Last year, Wynwood Walls started out as an ambitious project to revive and reclaim the worndown Wynwood Arts District with art. It’s just some of the sights seen at this year’s “Electric Windows”, an annual art and music festival that has already going on three years. Logan Hicks (interviewed) recently opened his solo show in Paris with the good people at Galerie Itinerrance, who were nice enough to send over some behind the scenes pics leading up to the opening. Not only is Logan known as one of the most skillful stencil artists out there, but he is also behind alot of the street events out there as an organizer, promoter, and all around glue guy in the scene – not to mention the best beard in the business. AM UK recently attended the bustling evening that was the London launch of Patrick Nguyen & Stuart Mackenzie’s “Beyond The Street” book, hosted at Phillips de Pury. The level of support for the book came over extremely positively in the number of people that attended the event. Logan Hicks (interviewed), Anthony Lister’s (interviewed), and Michael Kalish are teaming up for a three person show opening this week (May 19th) at the Opera Gallery in New York. Hicks will be bringing some new stencils including what appear to be some more minimalistic work. Lister looks to be exhibiting some older works and Kalish (whom we are not familiar with) is contributing some pop icon pieces constructed partially with license plates. Streets: Below Las Vegas with Logan Hicks

Inspired by Matt O’Brien’s book “Beneath the Neon – Life and Death in the Las Vegas Tunnels”, Logan Hicks (interviewed) recently took an interesting look at the massive system of drainage tunnels underneath the city of sin. Portions of the more than 300 miles of subterranean passageways are covered in graffiti and the feel of the place kind of reminds us of the underground work of Brazilian street artist Zezao.
