Showing: Modernica Chair Group Show @ Soze Gallery

Last Saturday night, Soze Gallery in Los Angeles opened a group exhibition that highlighted the form of the Modernica chair, seen through the lens of each participant’s artistic vision. Friends and artists who show with the gallery, created custom one of a kind versions of the chair with their signature styles and techniques with part of the proceeds going to benefit The Art Of Elysium, a non-profit organization that brings empowering artistic programs to children in the local hospitals in the area. Showing through April of next year at the Japanese American National Museum (JANM) is an exhibition celebrating the 40th anniversary of Hello Kitty. Update: Brendan Monroe – “Blobography” @ Heath Ceramics (Los Angeles)

Tomorrow night (November 1st) in Los Angeles, Brendan Monroe (interviewed) will be be ready to reveal all the hard work he has put in at Heath Ceramics. Blobography will feature some of the amazing organic sculptural forms he created in their workshop as well as some original paintings and drawings. This Saturday, the 1st of November, LA’s Soze Gallery will be opening a group exhibition in collaboration with the Modernica furniture company. The company that keeps the spirit of Modernism movement alive with their products, teamed up with the West Hollywood showspace for an unique charity event. For this show, artists will create custom painted fiberglass shell chairs, made on the original Herman Miller equipment. This Saturday night (October 25th, 6:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m), Branded Arts will be putting on their biggest event yet at the world famous TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Showing: Thierry Noir – “LA Retrospective” @ Howard Griffin Gallery

Thierry Noir, one of the true pioneers of street art in Europe, is currently showing his works with Howard Griffin Gallery at their new location in Los Angeles. This show presents a retrospective of the life and work of the French artist that created miles of illegal murals along the infamous Berlin wall in the 80s, sometimes literally risking his life for the sake of art. Upcoming: Nate Frizzell – “Dark Was The Night” @ CHG Circa

Coming up in the middle of next month, CHG Circa will be presenting new works from Nate Frizzell (interviewed). Dark Was The Night will be his first solo with the gallery and the first in Los Angeles since the beginning of last year (covered). Openings: Luke Chueh – “Self-ish” @ CHG Circa

Over the weekend, painter Luke Chueh (featured) presented a new body of work to his collectors in Los Angeles entitled Self-ish. The show at  CHG Circa featured a continuation of one of his most recognizable series, the “You Are What You Eat” works, overlaid with some of his self portrait elements. Also seen were further explorations of his “Head Space” pieces, autobiographical musings, as well as more of is “Color Field” paintings.
