Tomorrow night, March 31st, in Culver City, Natalia Fabia (interviewed) will be curating a show at the Corey Helford Gallery entitled Hookers. Drawing from her longstanding fascination with the world’s oldest profession, artists like Kent Williams, Michael Hussar, Phil Hale, Erik Sandberg, Saber, REVOK, and more have been instructed to produced similarly inspired work for the exhibition. In association with this, Fabia has organized a Miss Hooker Beauty Pageant tonight at Dragonfly with celebrity judges Dave Navarro, Traci Lords and Alexis Arquette. More preview images […]

The PRISM Gallery has assembled the first extensive exhibition of George Condo’s work in Los Angeles with a selection of paintings, drawings and sculptures across a wide span of his career with special emphasis on the portrait-style work of the last decade. A few weekends back in Los Angeles, Luis De Jesus opened a group exhibition entitled Dualities, Omissions, Loops, and Ruptures, featuring local artists Chris Engman, Cody Trepte, Samantha Roth, and John Houck. Coming up this Saturday night (March 24th), the LeBasse Projects in Chinatown will be presenting a collection sculptural works from Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) that he has been working for the last several years. The showing, entitled Jokes On Me…, features customized figures of iconic toys from childhood as well his own creations putting his skills with a range of mediums including plaster, resin, vinyl, clay and wood. On March 31st, Fumi Nakamura will be putting a new body of work on display at Thinkspace Gallery’s project room. The New York-based Japanese artist works with graphite & color pencils, and has been creating interesting clusters of animals, birds, humans, plant life in various configurations.
