Openings: “Summer Group Show” @ StolenSpace

StolenSpace shows always attract a good crowd and last week’s opening of their annual “Summer Group Show” was no exception. London was basking in a serious heatwave last week and the ice cold Tiger Beer was a welcome relief from the heat for the AM contingent attending the show. Read on for more pictures and details about the work from the show after the jump.

Preview: “Monster?” Group Show @ Copro Gallery

Monsters are attacking Bergamot Station!  Well, at least for the similarly named group show at Copro Gallery this Saturday night curated by none other than Travis Louie (interviewed).  Well respected in the art world and a talented artist himself, Travis was able to put together an impressive list of participants for exhibition.  Not only did he include regulars like Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed), Ron English (featured), Dan May (interviewed), Kris Kuksi, Chet Zar, Brian Despain (interviewed), Ana Bagayan (featured), and Tessar Lo, he also made sure […]

Openings: Nancie Yang @ Ad Hoc Art

The cool thing about Ad Hoc Art is that they always have a separate project area to showcase some not so household names that are emerging from the local art scene. Showing alongside Gaia and Imminent Disaster last Friday was Nancie Yang. Nancie’s work caught our eyes because of her great use of color and female subjects which get your attention. More after the jump.

AM stopped by to take a look at Reuben Rude’s show last weekend at Gallery 1988 (LA), where the “Afternoon with Greg Simkins” event (covered) was being held. He has been hard at work on this show, entitled “Americana,” for over a year. We quite liked the large installation piece (seen above), but also take a look at all the photos after the jump.

Teaser: Nicoletta Ceccoli @ Roq La Rue

Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) will be opening up her show at Roq La Rue along with Eric Fortune later on this month. From what she told us, she plans to have about 10 paintings for this show.  Judging from the teaser pics she was kind enough to send us, expect more of her fantastic dreamy and delicate imagery for this show.  Ceccoli’s paintings have a high level of detail and must be seen in person to truly appreciate how amazing her brushwork is.  More after the […]

Seeing Greg paint live is a rare occurrence and was truly a special treat. In addition, two different laser-engraved skate decks released along with a new print “Here Stands Matt Riddle.” Only one skate deck design was announced for this event, but a suprise second “black” design skate deck (limited to 15) was offered on Saturday as […]
