Preview: Nicoletta Ceccoli – “Incubi Celesti”@ Dorothy Circus

As we mentioned in out teaser last week, Dorothy Circus will be hosting a new body of work from Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) on October 29th. The show entitled “Incubi Celesti” or “Heavenly Nightmares” is a fitting name for these new paintings. Although there is always something delicate and beautiful about Nicoletta’s work, each of these new pieces has some darker aspects to them when you look closer. Openings: Chloe Early & Amy Sol – “Birdsongs & Machine Sounds” & “Dear Milky Way” @ Corey Helford

Last Saturday night, Chloe Early (interviewed) and Amy Sol (interviewed) opened their shows at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City. Chloe impressed with some of her largest paintings to date filled with here special mix of abstraction and realism entitled “Birdsongs & Machine Sounds”. Amy brought with her a smaller body of work, “Dear Milky Way”, that included both delicate paintings and drawings featuring her sweet characters and their harmonious relationship with nature. Last Friday night, Audrey Kawasaki’s (interviewed) started her set of exhibitions in Australia with a strong showing in Melbourne at the Outre Gallery. Next week, Kai-Lan (Karen) Chau will be making her fine art debut with Sloan Fine Art. The creator of the Emmy nominated hit Ni Hao, Kai-Lan will be premiering a Superflat series of works named “Inner Dialogue” (teased). The body of work will includes canvases, fiberglass sculptures, and of course prints. Another cool note is that Karen will donate all the proceeds from one of her print edition to two charities.
