Openings: Tessar Lo & Nimit Malavia @ Show & Tell Gallery

Tessar Lo and Nimit Malavia recently opened their shows: “Everything we wanted in our nostalgic future”  and “I can’t love you but we can romance” (respectively) at Toronto’s Show and Tell Gallery. For both artists, this was their first solo show in Canada. Not surprisingly, Toronto art fans filled the house to see the works from the two talented artists. Releases: Martin Wittfooth – “The Blind Fisherman” Print

Hot on the heels of Martin Wittfooth’s solo show, “Tempest”, opening last weekend at Copro Gallery (previewed here), Virtu Gallery has just released a new fine art edition from the New York based artist. “The Blind Fisherman”, one of AM’s favourite paintings by Wittfooth from last year – the original painting first seen at Jonathan Levine’s Beach Blanket Bingo 2009 summer group show (covered here) – is now available in signed and numbered editions of 40 on varnished paper and an uber-limited edition of 10 on varnished canvas. Opening tonight in the main gallery space of LeBasse Projects is “Deva Loka Los Angeles”, a new body of work from Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano. For anime fans out there, you may recognize his work from Vampire Hunter D and for the video game aficionados, you must know of his character designs for Final Fantasy. Camille Rose Garcia – “Down The Rabbit Hole” Exhibition and Book Signing Tour

For all those who have been keeping up with Camille Rose Garcia’s “Alice in Wonderland” book, there is an upcoming exhibition and book signing at Merry Karnowsky Gallery on March 6th. Part deux of the 2010 Group Exhibition at David B. Smith Gallery opens tonight in Denver. Openings: Rob Sato – “Junk History” @ Giant Robot (SF)

Last Saturday evening marked the opening of Rob Sato’s solo show, “Junk History”, in San Francisco at Giant Robot. This was his second solo show, following his first one at Giant Robot’s Los Angeles location last year. Featured in the show were largest pieces he had ever worked on, which still required close inspection to observe every minor detail packed into the painting. On the opposite side of the spectrum were tiny works painted on slide film that were still in his signature watercolor style. […]
