One last image for you on All Hallows’ Eve before you head out for your festivities. Patch was a piece Dan May (interviewed) did earlier this month, which was also released as a print. And like this painting, AM hopes that your night includes pumpkins, costumes, and other creepy creatures.

Ghost Is Born will be on display at the Michael Kohn booth during Art Basel Miami Week in December for those who are heading out for the fairs. Returning to the gallery that housed his massive solo in New York back in 2010, Ron English (featured) will be unveiling new works this week at the Opera Gallery. Entitled Crucial Fiction, the new series of paintings put on technical skills which are reminiscent of old master paintings, but applied to imagery biting commentary of pop culture and the commercialization of our culture. Tomorrow night (October 27), Giant Robot 2 in West LA will be celebrating Mari Inukai’s daughter Sena’s birthday with a exhibition from Mari and her friends. Besides something from mother and daughter, works from Amy Sol (below), Audrey Kawasaki, Edwin Ushiro (below), Elizabeth Ito, Fumi Omori, Katsuya Terada, Kent Williams, Sean Chao, Stella Im Hultberg (above), Tessar Lo, and Yoskay Yamamoto will also be on display.

While hanging out at this year’s Baby Tattooville, LA-based painter Nathan Ota told us about his upcoming show at La Luz de Jesus. Entitled Pop! Goes the Weasel, the new work incoporates much of the imagery that we have come expect from Ota – the birds, the tree man, the eggs, and now references to “COOZ”, an alias from his graffiti past. Jonathan LeVine Gallery hosted another great exhibition this past weekend with new work from Ashley Wood. The award winning illustrator presented a murky and moody series of paintings entitled Machine Sabbath which showcased Ashley’s unique artistic techniques of less is more. Openings: Gary Baseman – “Nightmares of Halloween Past” @ KK Gallery

Over the weekend, the newly opened KK Gallery in Los Angeles’ Chinatown Arts District held the opening reception for Gary Baseman’s (featured) latest solo show. Entitled Nightmares of Halloween Past, the exhibition featured appropriately themed paintings, the LA-based artist’s vintage Halloween photo collection, a performance by Nightmare and The Cat, a ghostly chandelier, and of course a costume for the man of the hour. Baby Tattooville ’12: Art Jam

The Art Jam is the centerpiece of Baby Tattooville (see 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008). As in the previous five years, artists in attendance collaborate on the large piece from the start of the BT weekend on Friday until the Saturday night deadline. Prints are then made of this completed painting and distributed to attendees after the weekend. This past weekend, Jonathan LeVine Gallery premiered a new exhibition from Australian painter Jeremy Geddes (interviewed). Making his long awaited United States solo debut along with peer Ashley Wood, Geddes made a splash with 17 superb paintings (previewed).
