This Saturday, February 2nd, Giant Robot 2 will be celebrating Chinese New Year early with their Year of the Snake group show. Featuring the work of Rob Sato, Aaron Woes, Jeremiah Ketner, Stella Hultberg, Luke Chueh, Deth P. Sun, Yoskay Yamamoto, Edwin Ushiro, Audrey Kawasaki, Andrew Hem, Saelee Oh, Mari Inukai, APAK, and more, the exhibition will put the legless one and its characteristics on display for art fans to enjoy. Preview: Luke Chueh – “Turning Japanese” @ Idol Gallery (Tokyo)

After executing the first phase of his revenge against Japanese bootleggers by taking those images, painting, and selling then for his show in Chicago (covered), Luke Chueh (interviewed) has traveled to Tokyo where he will have a chance to see these illegal productions in person. Last month in Chicago, the Rotofugi art toy boutique and gallery hosted all new works from Luke Chueh (interviewed) which was collectively entitled I Am Your Plaything. As history suggests, there is a good chance that any artist who has made a name for themselves in the art toy game will eventually head to Chicago for a showing at Rotofugi. Luke Chueh (interviewed) is no different as he will be opening a solo, I Am Your Plaything, at the toy boutique and gallery on September 7th. Releases / Signings: Luke Chueh – “Bearing the Unbearable” @ Spoke Art

Last Thursday, Luke Chueh’s signing and sketch tour celebrating the release of his book – Bearing the Unbearable continued with a rare appearance in the Bay Area at Spoke Art (previewed). Preview: Luke Chueh – “Bearing the Unbearable” Signing @ Spoke Art

Tomorrow night (July 5th) in San Francisco, Luke Chueh (interviewed) will be continuing his Bearing the Unbearable book signing tour (see Los Angeles). Also, of interest to Bay Area fans will be the release of new prints from his popular sushi series of paintings, with the originals created for a 2009 showing in LA. The 11″ x 14″ giclees (edition of 100) will cost $140 for the set (or $80 each). Also on display will be some of the LA-based painter’s sketches. Luke will be showing alongside the […]

As mentioned here earlier, Luke Chueh (interviewed) is having a series of autograph and sketching sessions celebrating the release of his new book – Bearing the Unbearable. Last weekend, we dropped by Gallery 1988 (Melrose) for the first and largest of these signings which also included a series of sketches on display from the LA-based artist.
