Streets: Maya Hayuk – Bowery & Houston Mural (Part II)

Last month, AM caught up with Brooklyn based artist Maya Hayuk as she braved the polar vortex conditions that have plagued NYC all winter. Spending more than a week hand painting the entire Bowery and Houston mural with her signature style, she was finally able to completed her visual contribution to the iconic New York street corner. Basel Week Miami ’13 / Streets: “Women on the Walls” (Wynwood) – Part II

Following up on some of the walls in-progress that we showed you last week for the Women on the Walls in Miami for Art Basel Week, we now have photos of some of the completed murals and work. The surrounding area and the Wynwood Walls compound were beautified by visiting artists including Aiko, Miss Van, Fafi, Maya Hayuk, Lady Pink, Faith47, Kashink, Lakwena, Sheryo and Olek (seen above). Basel Week Miami ’13 / Streets: “Women on the Walls” (Wynwood) – Part I

For those street art fans down in Miami for Art Basel Week, you may want to head over to the Wynwood district for the new outdoor mural project. Women on the Walls features work by Aiko (seen above), Miss Van, Fafi, Maya Hayuk, Lady Pink, and Olek in the Wynwood Walls compound. Berlin’s Circle Culture Gallery recently opened their third gallery space, in addition to its other two venues in Berlin (Mitte and Hamburg). After “twelve years of fusing fine art with pop art and subcultural art,” expansion to a new, 560 sqm former warehouse on Potsdamer Strasse was a logical next step for the gallery. Following directly on from Part 1 of our coverage of the busy Space//Form opening, AM now delves a little deeper pictorially into the artwork created for this huge group exhibition of 110 artists with a series of pictures where the art is more viewable (like the Mark Dean Veca installation above).
