Streets: Meggs (Los Angeles)

Recently in Los Angeles, Meggs teamed up with mobile game company Com2uS to paint an expansive mural promoting new and original content surrounding Summoners War. The new piece covering 2000 square feet of wall in Downtown LA (568 South Sante Fe Ave) features well known characters from the game such as Arch Angel, Dragon, and Angelmon rendered in the Melbourne-based artist’s signature aesthetic. Streets: Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans – Mexico Expedition

A couple of weeks ago Pangeaseed.org wrapped up another praiseworthy project on the island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico – Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans – Mexico Expedition. For this event that took place from July 20-28, they invited a group of international artists to help raise awareness for the conservation of the ocean.  Similar to what they did with POW! WOW! Hawaii earlier this year (covered), 1xRun.com released a series of limited edition prints along with this event, with 100% of the proceeds going towards funding the programme. Greatly needed protection for the […]

POW! WOW! ’14: Murals – First Look

A major component of the POW WOW festival in Hawaii is of course the public art that goes up over a week, mostly in the industrial district of Kaka’ako. AM spent some of the last two days walking the streets chatting to artists and admiring the murals going up that not only display the skills of these painters from all over the world, but often times tests their collaborative problem-solving that occurs when working on joint walls (like the one above between Buff Monster and Nychos). Take […]

Streets: Risk, Meggs, Insa, Uglar, Echo – Abandoned Water Park Project

One of our contributing photographers in the past, Birdman, recently arranged for some artists to paint in an abandoned water park located somewhere in the Mojave Desert between California and Las Vegas. The project in association with VNA saw Risk, Meggs, Insa (along with some suicide girls decked out in Insa gear), Uglar, and Echo made their mark in and around the structures that exuded the aura of a failed American Dream. More photos from the can be seen in Issue 24 of Very Nearly Almost Magazine with some […]
