With the public opening scheduled for today (10am – 7pm daily), here is a look at the final murals and installations for the Work In Progress show in Hong Kong. Curated by Above Second Gallery, the show will be held in the soon to be demolished Somerset House (13th Floor, Taikoo Place, Island East) provided by Swire Properties and will feature the work of Vhils, Cyrcle, Meggs, Rone, Cannonball Press, Victor Ash, and Beastman. Coming later this week, the Above Second Gallery in Hong Kong will be curating a group exhibition featuring Vhils, Cyrcle, Meggs, Rone, Cannonball Press, Victor Ash, and Beastman. Meggs for The Hundreds

If you remember, Australian artist Meggs was in town for a solo exhibition currently showing in Los Angeles at the Thinkspace Gallery (covered). While here, he also was asked to paint a mural at The Hundreds warehouse complex (also see Stephen Harrington). The piece features a skull in hand rendered in his signature comic-inspired style. Over the weekend, the Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City welcomed in Meggs from Australia as he opened his latest solo show. Entitled Heavenly Creatures, the exhibition included a mixture of paintings, sculptural works, and overlying murals including some interactive spinning panels that could be flipped by attendees. As usual, the new work featured his semi-abstract renderings of comic-inspired superheroes in kinetic compositions. Take a look at more photos below… Discuss this show here. Discuss Meggs here.

Tomorrow night (April 6th) at Thinkspace Gallery, Aussie artist Meggs will be unveiling all new works for his fans in Los Angeles (his first show in the area since four years ago). Heavenly Creatures will include paintings, sculptural works, and an installation featuring his street-infused imagery that is heavily influenced by comics and mythology. While roaming the streets during Basel Week Miami, AM came across our old friends from POW WOW, Meggs and Phibs working on a massive collaborative mural. Situated in the Wynwood Walls district, the piece featured Meggs’ phoenix and flames combined with Phibs characteristic patterns. Stop by to see it for yourself if you are in Miami.
