Another event that caught our attention during Basel Week Miami was KITH Homage, a group exhibition curated by Joshua Liner Gallery. To celebrate each of Ronnie Fieg’s previously (and soon to be) released Gel-Lyte III designs with Asics, 14 artists were asked to reinterpreted the founder of Kith NYC’s inspirations to create a piece for each of his past designs and for one future model. Another strong satellite fair seen during this year’s Basel Week Miami was certainly Untitled. Showing a diverse selection of contemporary works, the roster included 119 international galleries, not-for-profit exhibition spaces and institutions from over 20 countries. Once again, the Wynwood Arts District became the capital of the street art world during Basel Week Miami. With artists from around the globe painting on every corner of this lively neighborhood and related events happening at local bars, clubs, galleries and parks, one of the main events was surely going down at Wynwood Walls. As we continue our look at the prolific street activity centered around the Wynwood District during Basel Week Miami, the next mural that caught our eyes is the collaborative effort between Li-Hill (interviewed) and James Bullough. Taking advantage of how well Li-Hill’s kinetic imagery and Bullough’s glitch-like style mesh together, its creation was timed to coincide with the COP21 Paris Climate Conference. CONTEXT Art Miami was another popular satellite fair for this year’s Basel Week Miami. Paired up with Art Miami, these two events gathered huge crowds over the course of several days. One of the most anticipated satellite events of this year’s Basel Week Miami was the Larry Gagosian and Jeffrey Deitch collaboration – an exhibition entitled Unrealism. The show opened on the 2nd of December at The Moore Building in the Miami Design District and will stay on view until the 6th of December. After creating a nice installation and store last year (covered) for Basel Week Miami, Snarkitecture is back with a new project for 2015 that they just unveiled at the Miami International Airport. The New York design studio established by Alex Mustonen and artist Daniel Arsham collaborated with Netjets to paint over one of their signature series global 5000 aircraft to mimic the concept of an ombre sky, the occurrence seen when flying at dawn or dusk when the horizon appears to be graded in color.
