Rounding out our coverage of this year’s Nuart Festival in Norway are two last artists – Herbert Baglione & Tellas. The Brazil-based Baglione spent most of his time working the walls (above) with some intricate tags that has not been typically for him when compared to his usual figurative style. One misty morning in Norway, we hiked over to the Obrestad Lighthouse to check out the intricate workings of Lucy McLauchlan. Painting the walls with her signature motifs (also seen in her solo at Lazarides in 2010), the UK-based artist covered the entire tower in doing her part for this year’s Nuart Festival. Another great curatorial choice for Nuart Festival is rising star Phlegm, who traveled from his home base of Sheffield for this year’s event. For his part, he painted a nice mural on the side of a derelict building featuring his signature affection for all things airborne and also filled an entire room with his creatures and characters in a strange, almost evolutionary, lineup. Nuart Festival ’11: Herakut

With the Nuart Festival in full swing in Norway, the next artists to grace the walls of Stavenger are German duo Herakut. The creative blend of Hera’s loose and more abstract elements with Akut’s photorealistic skills is a special aesthetic that can’t be duplicated. They took time to work on a large wall (with the assistance of a mechanical crane) as well as an immersive installation that took over an entire room. More photos after the jump from Henrik Haven.

As we continue our coverage of this year’s Nuart Festival, our attention shifts to a street reunion of sorts between DVS-1 and David Choe (featured). Yesterday, we brought you Escif’s contributions to this year’s Nuart Festival. Today, we focus on another great street artist, the Lisbon-based Vhils (filmed) who introduced his unique techniques to his fans in Norway. Not only did he work his magic inside with this double skull chiseling, he also worked on a piece outside on a similar theme. AM photographer Henrik Haven was on hand to document the action. The lineup for this year’s Nuart Festival was recently announced with most of the artists participating featured on AM in the past including Dan Witz, David Choe, Vhils, Herbert Baglione, Lucy McLauchlan, Dolk, Herakut, Tellas, Escif, Hyuro, Phlegm, and DVS 1. It’s time for another update from Stavenger, site of the Nuart Festival. Looks like Vhils is in town now chiseling away at another masterpiece. We had only recently enjoyed his work at the fantastic Eurotrash show and the Viva La Revolucion exhibit so if you have not seen the textures of his work in person, you are missing out.
