André & Futura have joined forces for a unique collaborative show at Danysz Gallery in Paris with their signature pictorial characters. Aptly entitled Chez Nous, the exhibition presents a series of unseen works where they answer each other and merge their energetic painterly gestures. Continuing to expand on a recent body of work last seen in Hong Kong (covered), Mr. will be opening a new show tomorrow night (January 19th) at Perrotin Gallery in Paris. Entitled Mr.’s Melancholy Walk Around the Town, the new work from the Superflat movement artist features more of his anime inspired works portraying young girls in a ero-kawaii style, made personal when considering it is billed as a “wider reflection upon solitude, social anxiety, impotence and fear.” Check out more photos of the setup below… Photos courtesy of ©︎2011-2018 […]

While in Paris, you may want to pay more attention while riding the public transport as JR (interviewed) has installed his work in 11 metro and RER stations. On view through February 10, the project from the anonymous artist will be updated intermittently with his iconic black & white photography, coinciding with his current show at Maison Européenne de la Photographie (more on this later). Last week, Galerie Perrotin opened a solo show from Madsaki entitled French Fries with Mayo, the first time the Japanese artist has exhibited in Paris. Recently, those walking by entrance to the Palais de Tokyo in Paris have had their attention drawn to a life size dollhouse installation by Amabouz Taturo (a pseudonym for Japanese artist Tatzu Nishi). The piece is part of the ongoing Childhood: Another banana day for the dream-fish exhibition (title take from a story by J.D. Recap: Pejac – “Waterline” (Paris)

For a just a few days leading up and through the last weekend, Pejac held a special showing of his work inside an old ‘péniche’ boat moored right next to Notre-Dame. Entitled Waterline, the exhibition consisted of around 30 drawings and studies on paper as well as a couple clever installations. Evident in the work displayed were some elements of the Spanish artist’s work that make him special including commentary on environmental and socio-political issues, art history references, technical skill, and his dark humor. Openspace Gallery in Paris is paying tribute to Miss Van with a special retrospective. The show, curated by Samantha Longhi and Nicolas Chenus, presents more than 90 works from 2003 to today, and is running until June 14th. Spanning across 15 years, the exhibition highlights the French artist’s prolific body of works on paper, wood, and canvas. After painting a large new mural Turn Coat (covered) in the 13th District of Paris, D*Face (interviewed) unveiled his first solo show in France at Galerie Itinerrance.
