Openings: Logan Hicks – “Love Never Saved Anything” @ PMM Art Projects (Popup)

Last week, during Armory Week, Brooklyn-based artist Logan Hicks held a fresh exhibition at PMM Art Projects‘ pop-up location on NYC’s Lower East Side. Entitled Love Never Saved Anything, Hicks’ new show seems to be exploring underwater elements as the subject matter, with much success. He has brought another dimension of detail and color in this body of work, which takes his signature stencil technique to a whole new level. Another surprise in the exhibition is the second level of the gallery, which showcases Hicks’ […]

Basel Week Miami ’13: Ai Weiwei – “According to What?” @ Pérez Art Museum Miami

One of the exhibitions we made sure to stop by while in Miami for Art Basel Week back in December was the survey of Ai Weiwei’s work at the Perez Art Museum Miami. Basel Week Miami ’13: “Affordable Care” @ Mana Wynwood

One of the shows we visited during Art Basel Week was Affordable Care, curated by Flaunt Magazine. Held in the Mana Wynwood complex in Miami’s downtown district, this group exhbition explores the contradiction of the words “affordable” and “care”. This pairing of terms in the current world is sort of an oxymoron in a time of digital missives, healthcare glitches, and artistic free-for-all. The event brought together an interesting mix of artists working with diverse mediums, including photography, digital, performance art. The participants were Ben Jones, Melanie Pullen, […]

Streets: JR @ National Library of France (Paris)

French “photograffeur” JR (interviewed) recently turned the facade of the National Library of France in Paris into his largest photo printer yet as he brought his Inside Out project back home again. Pasted in strips over the course of a week in November, the striking image and clever use of the building further cements himself as one of his country’s foremost street artists. Take a look at more images below… Photo credit: truxi. Discuss JR here.
