This week’s look at public art around the world is headlined by this new piece (source) from Case (aka Andreas von Chrzanowski) in Frankfurt, Germany. Painted at the construction site for the future European Central Bank headquarters, the MaClaim crew member painted Pinnochio being manipulated by a pair of hands, making some sort of political statement. Streets: World Roundup (Oct 15 – Oct 21)

We lead off this week’s review of street art with a new mural from Roa in Puerto Rico. Painted for the Los Muros Hablan Festival, the Belgium-based muralist rendered a giant Iguana (an invasive pest there, chewing up plants and crops and burrowing under roads and dikes) holding a Coquí, a small frog endemic to the island. After a big time collaboration with Os Gemeos, Spanish young gun Aryz has painted a solo mural for the Urban Forms Gallery event in Poland. The summary of last week’s street activity is headlined by this new mural from Aaron Martin (aka Angry Woebots) in Hawaii. The piece which is located in the kaka’ako district at the UFC Gym (BJ Penn) in Honolulu was painted in preparation for the upcoming POW WOW event. Streets: World Roundup (July 23 – July 29)

This week’s roundup sees the return of David Ellis to the streets after the massive mural painted in Brooklyn last month. This latest tree piece was commissioned by Converse as part of they Wall to Wall campaign and features Ellis’ sinuous pattern (photo by Justin Carlson and courtesy of Joshua Liner Gallery). Streets: World Roundup (July 16 – 22)

Leading off last week’s Streets: World Roundup is this amazing mural (seen above) painted over the course of a year by Josef Kristofoletti. The project was commissioned by the ATLAS Experiment at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research and was painted on the side of the ATLAS control room directly above the detector, near the Swiss-French border outside of Geneva by the Texas-based artist. It looks like the G40 Art Summit in Richmond, Virginia that we mentioned earlier has kicked off with murals going up at multiple locations around town. Starting things off were Aryz with a massive still-life, ROA with a bird and arrow, Jaz with six lions, Pixel Pancho with two walls in his signature robotic style, and Gaia with his hands and dove.
