Upcoming: Pose & Revok – “Uphill Both Ways” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

This Saturday night (June 29th), the Jonathan LeVine Gallery will be presenting a two-person exhibition (cureated by Roger Gastman) from Pose and Revok. Uphill Both Ways will bring together the two MSK-affiliated graffiti artists in a show inspired by “legal persecution and loss, as well as general themes of the human struggle.” The Detroit-based Revok will bring with him his abstract geometric panels (seen above), formed from found materials sourced from abandoned structures in the city while the Chicago-based Pose will be showing his cartoonish, fragmented portraits […]

On Saturday night, the Known Gallery in Los Angeles hosted a private release party for Hello Kitty, Hello Art!, a book compiling artwork inspired by Sanrio characters. In association with this event, a group show featuring works from 64 Colors, AIKO, Caia Koopman, DABS MYLA, Kenton Parker, Niagara, Shepard Fairey, Simone Legno, RISK, Adam Wallacavage was on display as each artist chose different characters to render in their own typical fashion. Last week, Jeff Soto (interviewed) sent over some in-progress photos from the RVA Street Art Festival in Richmond, Virginia where artists like Dalek, Mark Jenkins, Pose, Richard Colman, and others were painting murals along the James River Power Plant Building and Floodwall. Jeff has now followed up those pics with some of of the completed walls including areas where artist’s work leaked into each other’s field leading to some sweet collaborative work. After revealing the first mural from the RVA Street Art Festival from Mark Jenkins (interviewed) as part of last week’s street art roundup, we now have even more photos for those of you not in Richmond, Virginia. Jeff Soto (interviewed) has sent us some images filled with mural action from the event, including this deeply personal piece he worked on.
