After including his works in their previous group showing, this is his first solo show with the gallery and second NY solo since his 2014 debut with Anonymous Gallery (covered). For this show, the London-based artist created a series of 14 matching new pieces that work both as a large installation and as individual pieces. In the aftermath of the horrible attacks that happened on Friday 13th in Paris, the art community once again responded with what it does best – transferring the emotions and messages in an original visual form. Whether they are French or not, they all have some sort of special connection with the “capital of the arts.“ From Danish master of paper drawings and folds, Huskmitnavn (top photo), Paris-based Seth Globepainter who painted one of his kid characters writing Parisian motto “Fluctuat nec mergitur (Tossed but not sunk)”, to legendary mastermind behind the Obey […]
During our recent travels abroad to catch the opening of Banksy’s Dismaland, we also made a few stops to see friends of ours across the pond. One was a visit to Pryce Lee’s massive Birmingham compound that serves as both his lair and studio as he prepped for his upcoming show at Amsterdam’s The Garage. The exhibition entitled Ceasefire is a step up to another level for the bi-continental artist. Along with pairing an open cage with one of his “bird hitting the window” works, the artist who balances his time between New York and the UK also contributed one of his signature bullet pieces, but this time incorporating an aquarium. One of the coolest exhibitions that opened up during Armory Week was put on by Anonymous Gallery, who hosted a pop-up exhibition by the red hot Pryce Lee. Entitled Single Shot, this series of fifteen individually composed art pieces explores the instance where a life is changed by a single bullet. Through the use of a mirrored sculpture, Pryce literally reflects the viewer and transport them to a world where violence has the side effect of creating innocent bystanders all around the world. The main piece features […]
