Upcoming: Todd “REAS” James – “Swords & Sorcery” @ The Newsstand

Tomorrow (November 23, 3-9pm) in New York, Todd James will be releasing a zine at The Newsstand in Brooklyn (inside the Metropolitan Ave.-Lorimer St. stop on the G and L trains). Those attending the event will see a Sword & Sorcery themed installation based on the dungeons and dragons type pieces he has been posting onto his Instagram (some more of which are seen below) recently. Danish artist, graffiti writer and illustrator, HuskMitNavn (RememberMyName in Danish), recently released a book of drawings – Offline. The title of the book is the artist’s response to the trend of our life moving into the online realm, with help of virtual communication and social networks. A book release was held on the 15th November at Schaefer Grafisk in Copenhagen where 92 original drawings featured in a book were exhibited and available. Murakami x Harper’s Bazaar Shoot

For those of you who watched Takashi Murakami’s film Jellyfish Eyes, his recent shoot with Harper’s Bazaar may look familiar to you. The Japanese art superstar and some of the characters from the movie spent a day with Angela Lindvall and photographer Jason Schmidt out in Los Angeles prepping for the December/January issue. Damien Hirst x Rihanna for GQ

For their 25th anniversary issue, British GQ enlisted the help of Damien Hirst to design the cover along with Rihanna. Styled with snakes entwined on the R&B singer’s body and on her head as well as slit eye contacts, the spread certainly has references to the mythical Medusa. Releases: Banksy x Os Gemeos for The Village Voice

Two of street art’s finest have come together for a special collaboration for the cover of New York’s The Village Voice. Two variations of the cover were made – one with Banksy’s signature riot police surrounding one of Os Gemeos’ yellow characters and the other cover is the riot policeman in a sea of yellow figures each dressed in a vibrant outfit – some actually wearing shirts paying homage to some of Banksy’s greatest hits. Publications: Remi Rough – ‘#roughsketches’

Last week, the MOCA in Los Angeles held a release party for OUTSIDE THE LINES: An Artists’ Coloring Book for Giant Imaginations, a publication curated by Souris Hong-Porretta (seen directly below). Many of the animators, cartoonists, fine artists, graphic artists, illustrators, musicians, outsider artists, photographers, street artists, and video game artists made it out to the event to interact with fans and sign copies.
