Over the weekend, the Known Gallery in Los Angeles hosted the opening for an exhibition from Dennis Morris, a UK-based photographer especially known for his work in the music industry. This particular showing focuses on his iconic shots of Bob Marley, a seminal period of time in his young career when he toured with the Jamaican singer-songwriter. As we previously mentioned, Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic is releasing a limited edition of hand finished prints on the 3rd of April via GraffitiPrints. Several examples of these prints were exhibited at his current solo show in Barcelona (covered), with the rest is available later this week online. After recently releasing limited edition t-shirts in collaboration with Space Invader, Faile and Shepard Fairey, BNE is continuing the Artists 4 Water effort with another major artist. On World Water Day, Saturday, March 22 at 12 Noon PST, there will apparently be a collaborative release from Banksy (although no official confirmation yet) on BNE.org. It looks like Shepard Fairey (featured) has created a new print as a tribute to Ai Weiwei ahead of the Chinese artist’s show opening soon at the Brooklyn Museum. The portrait is created with Shep’s signature style and features a gash on the activist-artist’s scalp alluding to his time in the Chinese police’s hands back in 2010. Currently until Tuesday, March 11th, Tiny Showcase will have two prints available for purchase individually or as a set from Josh Keyes (interviewed). Although the originals were painted for different shows, the two pieces seemed destined to end up together due to their synchronous imagery. One of these that he recently wrote about is entitled Comfort in Dying and is also available as a print through INPRNT. Today at 3:00 PM PST, David Choe (featured) will be releasing a new print entitled Dragon Girl, with 100% of all proceeds donated to help the Typhoon Haiyan Relief in the Philippines. Measuring 3 feet by 3 feet, the edition of 38 costing $1200 has a little hand-painted watercolor on each one. Entitled Awakening the Moon, the edition will be limited to 500, be sized at 38″ x 25.5″, and cost $500. Each one will be signed and numbered and be a nice addition to your collection.
