Our friends over at VNA are getting ready to release the newest issue of their publication and have put together a nice promotional video. Included is some footage from Roa at work, for which we tagged along if you remember, and who is also the cover artist for Issue 12. Roa will also be making 100 screenprinted covers for a limited edition version for this issue and the release party will be at Pure Evil Gallery on August 12th. More details after the jump…

Talented street artist Roa continued his onslaught of recent shows (Cologne, Paris and London) with a new body of work for the Factory Fresh Gallery in New York. Reprising his signature lenticular paintings and utilizing found objects as canvas with movable parts revealing the anatomy of his animal subjects, the Belgium-based artist once again wowed the audience with ingenious constructs and on site installations. After stellar shows in Cologne, Paris and London, street artist Roa moves on the next big city – New York. We expect some large installs in the Big Apple as the Belgium-based artist likes to go big whether inside or outside of the gallery. Openings: Roa @ Pure Evil Gallery

Looks like the first look at Roa’s show comes from gifted street photographer, RomanyWG, as he stopped by to take some photos of the pieces and installations at the Pure Evil Gallery. As with Roa’s show in Paris, his paintings look to be on found items or well constructed objects with moving parts that allow a juxtaposition of multiple layers of overlaying painting surfaces. Since his show in Paris, Roa has been busy putting new work, mostly in Belgium. With each new piece, he further affirms his mastery of the art of proper placement. Not only that, he creatively incorporates elements of the location into his work and elevates typical two-dimensional street art with three-dimensional twists.
