Recap: POW! WOW! DC 2017

The Washington D.C. edition of POW! WOW! recently returned in 2017 with another 15 artists creating murals in the NoMa district. Local artists CHELOVE, JD Deardourff, Jordann Wine, Julia Chon, Key Han, Martin Swift, Mas Paz, and Matt Corrado joined artists traveling from afar – Kaplan Bunce (Hawaii), Madsteez (California), STASH (Brooklyn) – seen above, TRAV (California), It’s a Living (Mexico), Muro (Spain), and Qbic (Russia) in painting walls in the neighborhood at a number of locations such as the Metropolitan Branch Trail and the new AVA apartment building at 55 M Street NE. Streets / Recap: POW! WOW! Worcester

A couple weeks ago, POW! WOW! Worcester welcomed in artists from 8 different countries as well as locally from Massachusetts. In association with the event, there were gallery shows and other activities, but the main draw was the live painting (like in other POW! WOW! events around the world). Releases: Rustam QBic – “After School” Print

A few months after completing a mural with this same image in Bodo, Norway, Rustam Qbic recently announced a new hand finished print release through Unframed Editions. After School screen prints will be released on Tuesday, August 23rd at 6pm London time (1pm New-York) in two editions. Moving a lot around Europe lately, Rustam Qbic recently visited the Italian city of Ravenna where he painted his contribution to the Subsidenze Street Art Festival. Working three long days in the warm Italian sun, the Kazan artist quickly finished this new piece titled Immigration. Measuring 15m x 5m, this wall is a nice example of the symbolic surrealistic images that Qbic has been painting around the globe. Previously seen as an ink drawing and oil on canvas piece, the “Labyrinth” image from Rustam Qbic recently took form as a large mural in Kiev, Ukraine, officially marking the beginning of the Art United Us project. Recap: Forest For The Trees (Portland) – Part I

With most of the Forest For The Trees murals finished, now’s the time to do the first part of our recap of this year’s event (also see 2013, 2014). The time had come for another Streets World Roundup here on AM. Leading things off is a complex new work of art from Felice Varini in Hasselt, Belgium for the “De Unie Hasselt-Genk” exhibition.
