Openings: “Art Machine” @ The Hole Gallery & ALIFE

AM got a chance to attend the opening of Art Machine at The Hole recently. The collaboration between the gallery and NY fashion collective ALIFE featured a special vending machine where artwork could be purchased and dispensed. We got there before the public was allowed in and watched the final “stocking” of the goods. With artwork and goodies from artists such as Matt Leines, Ricky Powell & Kenny Scharf, it was sort of a rush to get in front of the crowd to get a […]

A major improvement this year was the easy to navigate floor space compared to the spread out and confusing maze of […]

Ryan McGinness – “Black Holes” Party @ Phillips de Pury

AM attended a special party at Phillips de Pury for Ryan McGinness’ Black Holes” exhibition last Friday night. After bringing you an indoor and outdoor view of this mind altering installation, it seemed only natural that McGinness Studios hosts an event that incorporates the human element into the already impressive show. Invitees were reminded to dress in white/bright clothing in order to interact with the black-lit backdrop. Ryan and team took it up a notch as they silkscreened their jumpsuits with their signature imagery and […]

This time, we headed inside the auction house to enjoy the 24 works in detail. Take a look at this up close and personal look at the magical circular paintings and their unique black light installation environment. Check the magnificent details after the jump.

Openings: Ryan McGinness – “Black Holes” @ Phillips de Pury (NYC)

For a New Year’s Eve treat, AM stopped by the Highline in Chelsea’s meatpacking district to check out Ryan McGinness’ outdoor installation located at Phillips de Pury’s 15th St. auction floor. Even more impressive in person when compared to our preview, the specially designed show was created with two parts in mind – an indoor display (more on that later) of his paintings during business hours and the other being a transformation with signature black-light treatment after sunset for the outdoor passersby via the Highline bridge […]

Much like the mural which Ryan created for Wynwood Walls, the works took on another dimension once the black light hit. The stunning reactive paint just popped out for the viewers.
