Openings: David Ellis for “Go West” @ Mark Moore Gallery

The second half of the Joshua Liner curated Go West exhibition featured work from versatile artist David Ellis, which took up half of Los Angeles’ Mark Moore Gallery (see Kris Kuksi’s part in the show here). Art HK ’12: Yayoi Kusama

One of the featured artists at Art Hong Kong this year was Yayoi Kusama. Her revolutionary style of dots and environmental immersion has received distinction from both Western and Asian art institutions. Even fashion icon Louis Vuitton has recently honored her creativity with a collaborative project that kicks off this season. If you enjoyed the first part of our coverage of David Shrigley’s retrospective at the Hayward Gallery in London, here is a second set of photos for you to peruse. Art Focus: Shi Jindian

For this week’s Art Focus, we point you to the wire sculptures of Chinese artist Shi Jindian. Bringing to mind the intricate and ethereal mesh work from Do Ho Suh, Shi instead creates his pieces by wrapping steel wires around object and then destroying or extracting the inner object leaving only a metal shadow. Openings: Isaac Cordal @ RAS Gallery

Last Friday, RAS Gallery in Barcelona hosted the opening of Isaac Cordal’s latest collection of works which were presented by SUBEN and curated by Maximiliano Ruiz. Cordal’s outdoor sculptural interventions, which often times are political in nature, made the transition to the gallery setting with pieces arrayed on a series of shelves and with floor installations.
