Streets: RIME, DCEVE, and TOPER (New York)

The Los Angeles-based and MSK-affiliated RIME recently made the trip out to New York for this standout wall including the names of Smart Crew members DCEVE and TOPER. As evidenced by his other moniker “Jersey Joe”, RIME has roots and experience getting up in the area which he used to full advantage with this rooftop collaboration or tribute. While there, he also painted an outline of a sketch NYC’s HAZE did of RIME’s name in an alley under the Manhattan Bridge (set up by Klughaus Gallery). Via […]

Streets: Aiko Mural on Bowery & Houston (Part I)

It’s that time of the year again for New York’s iconic Bowery & Houston wall. The coveted street art mural spot has a changing of the guards yet again and this time, Aiko Nakagawa takes the helm with her seductive urban styling. After notable names such as RETNA, Kenny Scharf, Barry McGee, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos, JR, Keith Haring and Faile leaving their mark in the past, Lady Aiko becomes the first woman to create art at the legendary corner. AM stopped by the past two days to catch the […]

Streets: CYRCLE. – “Beautiful Disaster” (Los Angeles)

Recently, we saw CYRCLE. at our City Of Fire exhibition (covered) where they showed an interactive piece that had the crowd mesmerized by its spinning panels. Now, they are back on the streets and before last week’s holiday hit, they painted a mural named Beautiful Disaster, which is a continuation of their Cut It Out series which began last year with a wall featuring a flower gun. This latest mural at West Hollywood’s The Roxy was created in conjunction with with Poster Child Prints, who will be releasing their first […]

Streets: David Choe (Hawaii)

After news broke earlier this year that David Choe’s (featured) Facebook stock had made him a very rich man, he was last seen getting interviewed by Howard Stern and Barbara Walters. Looks like he’s finally surfaced on the Big Island of Hawaii where he picked up some paint again to work on a wall featuring classic Choe imagery with imaginative and random creatures. It appears we have a octopus headdress wearing mermaid (attached to a fish) being ridden by a bird dress girl, ninja turtle, and the […]

Streets: Megx – “Lego Bridge” (Germany)

Giving into childhood nostalgia, Megx (Martin Heuwold) has painted an old train overpass in Germany to resemble LEGO blocks. The whimsical painted installation on the bridge  in Wuppertal, which has now been converted into a bicycle and pedestrian path, took the street artist nearly four weeks to complete. The result is certainly better, or at least more interesting, than before – don’t you agree? Via Designboom.

Streets: Sat One – “Prisoners of the Sea” (Bulgaria)

The Munich-based Sat One recently travelled to Varna, Bulgaria to work on a multi-sided mural entitled Prisoners of the Sea. The street artist was invited by BALCANS-Magazine to wrap a tower on the top of a building which he opted to paint a selection of ships sailing and sinking through the ocean imagery. Fans in Barcelona can now see his work in the group show Homage to Moebius at Montana Gallery. Via Graffuturism.

Streets: Eduardo Kobra (Los Angeles)

After recently gifting New York with a mural that remixes a famous Alfred Eisenstaedt photograph (which is also is visible from the High Line), Sao Paulo-based street muralist Eduardo Kobra has travelled to Los Angeles to work on another piece. The commissioned wall is set to be revealed to the public today, Independence Day, at 1255 La Brea Ave. In honor of the holiday, the artist has painted his own version of the iconic Mount Rushmore in Keystone, South Dakota. Stop by to check it out for yourself if you […]

Streets: Escif (Spain)

It looks like Escif was caught up with the Euro 2012 fever that had his home country in its grip as he painted this piece entitled The Rescue leading up to the final. After Spain was crowned the UEFA champion, the street artist turned his attention to more serious topics with a mural (seen below) dealing with the cuts the country has had implement as it becomes increasingly mired in the financial crisis of Europe. Discuss Escif here.

Streets: World Roundup (June 25 – July 1)

South Africa-based DAL East has been busy traveling recently. His new whale mural C is the focus of our latest Streets: World Roundup feature and was put up Melun, France.
