Streets: Wooster Collective 10 year Anniversary (DUMBO)

The recent extensive showcase of street art put together by the Wooster Collective for their ten year anniversary exhibition (covered) at Jonathan LeVine Gallery was just the tip of the iceburg. In the streets of Williamsburg & Dumbo, the collective got ahold of some prime wall space for some of the artists involved to work on. Streets: Cleon Peterson (Los Angeles)

Last weekend, Cleon Peterson took on a large scale mural in downtown Los Angeles. Coming off a great summer exhibition across the pond at London’s The Outsiders’ Soho gallery, Cleon kept his acerbic and raw edge as he composed a hard hitting piece featuring his signature “Brinksmen.” Created over the span of two days, the wall was painted with a bloody looking color scheme making it a fresh eye-catcher for the people of LA. Streets: Nunca (Los Angeles)

Over the weekend, Brazilian artist Nunca finally finished a mural he has been working on all week in the heart of Los Angeles for the TARFEST Music and Art Festival. The massive piece (arranged by Merry Karnowsky Gallery & Launch Gallery) features imagery quite appropriate for the location with a series of paparazzi figures painted in the street artist’s distinctive style. Streets: INSA for The Vaford Gates (Hong Kong)

Earlier this month, the UK-based INSA returned to Hong Kong for a set of murals at The Vaford Gates in Chai Wan. If you remember, the street artist know for his heel motifs had a show in the city-state in 2011 at the Above Second Gallery. The project at this former old factory building location plans to feature a rotating cast of local and international artist so we’ll be sure to see more action soon… Discuss INSA here.

Recently, The London Police paid a visit to Covington, Kentucky for a public works project arranged by the BLDG gallery. The duo painted their iconic LADS characters alongside buildings and inside local business, leaving a trail of art for fans to follow. After opening his show at Honor Fraser (covered) in Los Angeles as well as painting on the cars of his lucky fans in the area, Kenny Scharf (interviewed) returned to New York where he continued improving vehicles with his signature imagery. He seems to get around, as he was back in the City of Angels last week to create a new mural (arranged by Branded Arts) in Culver City. Ukrainian artists and muralist Waone and Aec, known as Interesni Kazki, recently took part in the LGZ Moscow project where they worked on two separate surrealistic murals. Waone did a piece called Flying & Crawling mind at Lublinskaya Str.3, while Aec worked on his Time Machine mural in Sadovnicheskaya Str. 78, Moscow. Covering the era of the dinosaurs, constellations, age of big discoveries, technical progress and weapons development, Aec’s mural shows the history of the planet, and the big influence that humans have over all of it. French artist Ludo (interviewed) was recently in the US, visiting and working on both coasts. The artist arrived to New York City to take part in the 10 Years of Wooster Collective show (covered), as well as work on a new print (seen below) he is releasing with Paper Monster.
