After recently gifting San Francisco with a new mural, Nychos has headed to the other coast for a showing in New York. Silly Slicesophy will open Friday night (August 9th) in Brooklyn at the Mighty Tanaka. As referred to in the title, the Austrian artist will be taking his knife to classic Disney characters (like Mickey above), and dissecting them in a style he often uses on the streets. Streets: Liqen (Vodnjan, Croatia)

Spanish artist Liqen was recently in Vodnjan, Croatia where he painted a new colorful surreal mural for Boombarstick Festival. Even though he had some difficulties with the wall he was assigned, and later with his back pain, he managed to finish another rich and beautiful image on the main street of this cute small town. Made entirely with a brush and acrylic paint, this large scale street painting shows a psychedelic image, which is a part of a dream he actually had on his 1st night in Croatia. […]

Streets: Phlegm (Poland)

British muralist and illustrator, Phlegm, recently spent a couple days in the Polish capital, Warsaw, working on a new mural for the Street Art Doping festival. Once again, he got assigned an interesting wall by the organizers, with several different sized windows and parts of the plaster missing. Instead of covering these up, the Sheffield-based artist fully used the surface with all its given elements and created this mural based on the map of the world. The prolific Aryz is at it again – this time in Norway for the Oslo Triennial of Mural Art. Featuring the young Spanish street muralist’s signature faded palette, the surreal piece was painted on the side of a multi-story building and featured a skeletal man and a young girl. Chinese artist DALeast (interviewed), was back in Rochester, NY, last week. Almost exactly one year since last time he visited the city (covered), he once again left a recognizable mural for the Wall Therapy festival. Polish artists Sainer and Bezt, better known as Etam Cru, recently painted another fantastic mural on the streets of Richmond, for the local Richmond Mural Project. Baltimore based artist and muralist, Gaia, is very busy this summer traveling and painting murals. After finishing a couple of walls in Montreal, he recently visited Rochester for the Wall Therapy project, Richmond for the Richmond Mural project, and Baltimore for the Wall Hunters project. Ludo (interviewed) recently finished this huge mural in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, also known as arrondissement des Gobelins, titled Mutant With Eagle Head. As usual, the French artist has created another one of his signature mutant characters. These are strongly influenced by the flyers and skate deck imagery from the late 80’s early 90’s that the artist grew up with. Muralist Phlegm recently travelled to Ibiza for this year’s Bloop Festival which has just gotten started. Like his effort last year for the event held on the popular island in the Mediterranean Sea, the Sheffield-based street artist was given lots of space to work with.
