Time PotY Cover: Obama by Shepard Fairey

On Friday, December 19th, TIME Magazine will release its “Person of the Year” issue. The winner… President Elect Barack Obama. He will get the cover of the magazine of course, but what image/photograph did Time use? They went to the person responsible for creating the most iconic portrait of Obama, Shepard Fairey, and asked if he would design the cover for the Person of the Year winner: Barack Obama. UPDATE: Time actually conducted a video interview with Shepard to dicuss the design process for the […]

Obey x Z Trip Basel Party @ Shore Club

Already revved up from the Gen Art Vanguard Gala (Here)… Friday night got even more crazy as DJ Diabetic and Ztrip tag teamed the turntables for a packed Shore Club in South Beach. Shepard gave back in his usual gracious fashion as he threw a party for all his friends and fans. The party was super packed but security kept it cool and managed the crazy crowd wait to see Shepard and Ztrip. Once inside, the vibe was amazing. Numerous peeps were in attendance: Jose Parla, […]

Shepard Fairey @ Scope Miami

AM stopped by to visit Jonathan Levine, who was on hand to showcase Shepard Fairey’s work at Scope. Shepard created some gigantic murals to go along with the exclusive stencil works on paper and record albums. Unlike most Shepard Fairey shows where the buyers names are put on a list for a chance to purchase art, Levine made these works available only to the people who attended the show and on a first come-first serve basis. A few hardcore fans arrived at 6am on preview […]

Preview: Jonathan LeVine @ Scope Miami/Aqua Wynwood

After not participating in art fairs for a while, gallerist Jonathan LeVine decided to double-down this year by showing in not one, but two Miami fairs. At Scope Miami, LeVine will be exhibiting a solo show by GQ Artist of the Year, Shepard Fairey. And at Aqua Wynwood, LeVine has two booths: one showing works by Ray Caesar, Xiaoqing Ding and Adam Wallacavage, and another with a solo show of WK Interact. The above pics were all that AM was provided with, but we’ll be […]

Kenwood Vineyards’ Shepard Fairey wine

AM is crazy about art, but we also appreciate many of the other finer things in life. However, sometimes our art obsession leaves little time to think about anything else. That’s why we were happy to see that California’s Kenwood Vineyards has come up with a way to simultaneously enjoy urban art and wine that is much better than the previous method of drinking “Mad Dog” on the streets of Williamsburg. For the 30th installment of their artist series, Kenwood has collaborated with Shepard Fairey […]

This past Saturday night, Subliminal Projects was decked out in the typographical patterns of House Industries. The Delaware based group showcased a new collection of prints and patterns and transformed the gallery into a graphical delight that showcased just what some simple fonts can do. AM was invited to the opening night rock out with the beats of DJ Diabetic, who kept the night bumping way past closing time. For those who don’t know the Los Angeles based Subliminal Projects; its an amazing space owned/curated […]

It’s A New Day – will.i.am

A new celebration video for Obama came out recently by will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas.  What’s interesting is that alot of the street art and iconic images from his campaign were incorporated from artists such as Shepard Fairey, Ron English, and even Josh Keyes (not sure why?).  Also stopped by Subliminal Projects last night to see the “Letters and Ligatures” show and chatted a little with Shepard Fairey and he told us that some of the video was filmed on the roof and around […]
