Upcoming: Risk & Nathan Ota – “Innocence Lost” @ Corey Helford Gallery

On Saturday, Feburary 15th, the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City will host a two-person show from RISK (interviewed) and Nathan Ota. As seen from their collaborative exhibitions in 2001 (LA & SF), the two reunited artists who started in the graffiti scene together over 25 years ago, have imagery that seems to fit so nicely together despite their divergent paths since high school. Berlin based artist, Daniel Weissbach, recently opened his solo at Ruttkowski;68 in Cologne, Germany. Titled Stellen (to set, to put), this show included new pieces from his ongoing series of works focused on taking apart of real, everyday places, and reinventing them in an artistic context. By mostly creating isolated sections of tiled walls, his prime idea is to show and put accent on the spaces between the tiles, where life leaves marks that are hard to remove. Setup: Jacob Hashimoto – “Gas Giant” @ MOCA Pacific Design Center

Jacob Hashimoto’s Gas Giant will be on view at MOCA Pacific Design Center from March 1 to June 8, but we were able to visit (courtesy of Martha Otero) the artist and his crew as they were on day 6 of putting up the massive 2-floor installation. On February 15th, Ray Caesar (interviewed 2011, 2013) will be opening his first European solo exhibition at the Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome. Recap: Bumblebee – “Bee Yourself” Los Angeles Popup

From Jan 23 to Jan 26, Bumblebee’s first solo exhibition was on view at a pop-up location in Los Angeles. Consisting of new works and installations such as his Venice Beach lemonade stand, the show included familiar images from his street art murals, as well as his environmentally-conscious statements, such as his phone booths. Upcoming: Shepard Fairey @ Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art

Coming up in May, Shepard Fairey (featured) will be opening a show in Charleston, South Carolina where he grew up along with the work of Jasper Johns at the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art. The exhibition will feature new work by Fairey and a survey of prints made between 1982 and 2012 by Johns, highlighting both their technique of recycling graphic elements in separate galleries. Openings: Ben Eine – “Heartfelt” @ Judith Charles Gallery

On Wednesday, renowned graffiti artist Ben Eine unveiled a new series of works at Judith Charles Gallery. Entitled Heartfelt, the street typography wizard conveyed his thoughts & emotion through his bold color compositions. The exhibition showcased both his large format canvases and his print-making techniques. Using subtle changes in color and texture, EINE changes perception with his Jedi mind trick word plays.
