AM recently attended the opening of Tara McPherson’s newest show at Jonathan LeVine, her third solo with the Chelsea gallery. Inspired by the unexplored realms of deep space and deep sea, Wandering Luminations features the Brooklyn-based artist’s surreal portraiture of females and creatures all rendered in her signature palette of pinks and teals. Previews: Herakut – “Don’t Look At Me” @ Shooting Gallery

On Saturday night, November 9th, artistic duo Herakut will be opening a new show at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco entitled Don’t Look At Me. The collaborative acrylic and spray paint works on canvas from Hera (interviewed) and Akut often exude a raw and emotionally charged feel to them and mirror the German artists’ creative output on the streets. Previews: ‘Made in China’ @ Ian Ross Gallery

Made in China is a group show with a difference. Within it, you’ll see work from the likes of D Young V, Akira Beard, Jessica Hess (pictured above), Ernesto Yerena and Eddie Colla amongst others. You’ll also see counterfeit reproductions of the artworks presented alongside the original pieces. Over the weekend, Fabien Castanier Gallery in Los Angeles hosted an exhibition featuring new work by Kelly “RISK” Graval (interviewed) curated by Roger Gastman. Drawing from a career spanning over 30 years, the legendary hometown graffiti artist has created a diverse body of work collectively entitled Metallic Tissue. Releases: How & Nosm Mono Silkscreens from Pace Prints

Spanish-born, German-raised and New York City based identical twin brothers How & Nosm (Raoul and Davide Perre), have been spending most of the last three months doing a residency at Watanabe Press in Brooklyn, working on big project with Pace Prints. During this period, they created a new series of hand painted mono silkscreens for a show that’s scheduled for spring 2014.
