If you remember, AM last hung out with Anthony Lister while he was busy getting up and putting on shows in Los Angeles (see video here). The Australian artist is now set to open simultaneous exhibitions next weekend at both Lazarides the Outsiders locations – London & Newcastle. Upcoming: Femke Hiemstra – “Let The Devil Wear Black” @ Roq La Rue

Next month in Seattle, the Roq La Rue Gallery will be hosting a joint show with Femke Hiemstra and Ryan Heshka entitled Let The Devil Wear Black. Hiemstra has been spending lots of time on an new body of work featuring her anthropomorphized animals and their surreal adventures – all rendered exquisitely. Here are some glimpses of the Dutch artist’s new painting, but plan to attend the opening (scheduled for December 7th) if you are in the area. Discuss Femke Hiemstra here.

Later tonight at the Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle, Josh Keyes (interviewed) will be unveiling all new paintings alongside works from John Brophy. Opening: SSUR – “From The Cradle To The Grave” @ Scion A/V Installation

Last week, the Scion A/V Installation hosted the opening of New York streetwear label SSUR’s (brainchild of Ruslan Karablin) exhibition From The Cradle To The Grave. Like all shows at the newly opened space in Melrose, limited edition goods were produced specifically for the event to go along with the display of original art. The show runs through December 1st. Opening Friday night (November 9th) at the Ivory & Black in Soho is Hiro Kurata’s This Land Was Your Land. Currently showing at Lazarides’ main location (Rathbone Place) is a group exhibition that will give fans an idea of what kind of shows are planned through 2013 with the gallery. Along with some vintage Banksy works, on display were also some sublime paintings form Conor Harrington, new work from Faile with a slight twist, a piece from newcomer Know Hope and more (full list here). Openings: Jacub Gagnon – “More Human Than Human” @ Thinkspace

Last weekend, Canadian painter Jacub Gagnon (interviewed) put his new work, collectively entitled More Human Than Human, on display in the Thinkspace project room. The sold out show of seven pieces featured his surreal renderings of wildlife set against a stark black background combining his creatures with objects often dictated by a clever play on words.
