Previews: Travis Louie – “Curious Myths” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

This Saturday, Joshua Liner Gallery is prepped to showcase Travis Louie’s (featured) latest body of work entitled “Curious Myths”, the first solo show for Mr. Louie at the New York space. Looks like there will be 15 of Travis’ astonishing acrylic on panel pieces on display. It looks to be a doozy judging from this teaser pic of a large piece he’s working on (with two hands no less). Don’t worry, we’ll be on hand to witness the magic and document everything for you.  But […]

Openings: StolenSpace Summer Group Show

AM got to the opening of StolenSpace’s annual Summer Group Show last week to find a line of people queuing out of the door! A packed house came out to see what we found to be a very strong grouping of work from an interesting mix of artists, some old StolenSpace favorites, but a lot fresh names – some new to the gallery, and some new to the London scene. Chloe Early is one of our favorite painters from the StolenSpace roster, and her new […]

Anthony Lister’s (interviewed) adds to his ever growing list of countries exhibited in this week with the event of his solo show “The Beauty of Failure” to be held at Show & Tell Gallery in Toronto. Catch the opening on Friday, July 9th if you can, although Mr. Lister will not be in town due to a […]

Our friends over at Above Second have sent over some images of Meggs working on some pieces for the opening of his show on July 9th (6pm – late). After recently opening a similarly named show “King for a Day” at his own gallery down under, the Melbourne based artist has traveled all the way to Hong Kong to showcase a new body of work. Based on the artists imagery, an appropriately named “Superhero / Super-villain’s Fantasy Afterparty” follows at the ROXIE. You can learn […]

Openings: “Shred” @ Perry Rubenstein

“Shred,” an exhibition curated by New York downtown art critic and Paper magazine editor Carlo McCormick, opened last Thursday night at Chelsea’s Perry Rubenstein Gallery. As the name implies, the show features collage-based art from a diverse group of artists, including Dash Snow, Elbow-Toe (interviewed), FAILE (featured), Shepard Fairey (featured), Mark Flood, Erik Foss, Swoon (interviewed) and Judith Supine. McCormick stretches the definition of “collage” to include mixed-media pieces and video/animation, which allows for a diverse body of work, and most likely, a more interesting […]

Openings: Michael De Feo – “Mining for Splinters and Diamonds” @ No Borders Art

Ever the gentleman, Michael De Feo brought a whole bunch of flowers as a gift to the attendees at his solo show in Hong Kong last week including some live painting. “Mining for Splinters and Diamonds” (previewed) brought a selection of abstract and figurative mixed media pieces to  No Borders Art, and AM was there to check out the work. Michael got busy decorating the gallery space with a series of his iconic flowers, set against the backdrop of the new portrait paintings on display […]

Openings: Lucy McLauchlan – “Together…” @ Lazarides

Lucy McLauchlan’s latest solo show “Together…” is currently gracing the walls of the Rathbone Place gallery of Lazarides, and last week AM went along to the opening night to see the new body of work. McLauchlan has put together some intriguing installations around her work in the past and this element was probably the part of the show we were looking forward to seeing the most. Lucy brought a collection of junk items to the gallery comprising of paint cans, cassette tapes, discarded bottles and […]
