Preview: Cut Copy @ T&P Fine Arts

T & P Fine Arts is opening their new stencil themed show “Cut Copy” on February 6th, this Friday. The show will include artists 2 Cent, Ame72, Adam 5100, Bandit, Ben Slow, Buildmore, DiRQuo, Dogbyte, Daan, Eelus, Jef Aerosol, JRF, Kenji Nakayama, L.E.T. , Mimi The Clown, Mr. Brainwash, Neverwork, Nick Gentry, Papermonster, Pure Evil, Rene Gagnon, Skullphone, Soule. It’s finally here, twenty years in the making… the long awaited retrospective (previewed here and here) for Shepard Fairey has opened. The Supply & Demand exhibition held it’s VIP opening last night, and boy, was it an event. Dan May’s show “Slow Collison” opens this Saturday, February 7th at Copro Nason.Â His lush environments and monsters are as eye catching now as they were when we first saw his work on flickr several years ago.Â Of course, his work has evolved and become more rich with fantastic compositiona and “story-telling.”Â Dan takes some time to answer some questions for us about his current show as well as plans for the rest of 2009.Â Check the interview and some preview pics after the jump.

Preview: Ilia of Btoy @ Carmichael Gallery

Ilia, half of the Barcelona street-art duo Btoy, will be participating in the group show “Lifeline” which opens concurrently with Chris Stain’s solo show (previewed) at the Carmichael Gallery on Thursday, February 5th @ 7pm. The gallery was kind enough to send us a few preview images that highlight Ilia’s signature style featuring delicate lines and a muted palette. The other artists on display in the group exhibition are Jim Darling, Alex Hornest, and Sesper. Check out the rest of the preview after the jump.

AM got a chance to attend a special press sneak-preview of Shepard Faireyâ€™s retrospective at the ICA this morning, and we got some exclusive details regarding some special Obey goodies. Openings: Worlds on Fire (Grammy Show)

Art and music collided last night with the invite-only opening of the “Worlds on Fire” show (previewed) held at the Pacific Electric Lofts’ building in downtown LA.Â The week-long exhibit features portraits of 2009 Grammy nominees painted and interpreted by some of the top artists in the low brow and pop surrealist scene. “Magic Tricks” is the latest solo exhibition from Australian-born painter and street artist Anthony Lister. His two-person show withÂ Craola (previewed/interviewed) opens February 5th at Fifty24SF. Baltimore street artist Chris Stain makes his West coast solo exhibition debut with, “Up On The Roof Countin’ Pigeons,” opening this Thursday, February 5th @ 7pm at the Carmichael Gallery. His work focuses on scenes taken from the life of everyday inner-city Americans, capturing the people, the neighborhoods they live in, and their day-to-day struggles.
