Showing: Yayoi Kusama – “Pumpkins” @ Victoria Miro

Currently showing in London at Victorio Miro, Pumpkins from Yayoi Kusuma is an exhibition that features one of her most famous motifs. The celebration of the fruit in question was approached from different angles by Kusama, utilizing her various skill sets – paintings, large mosaic sculptures inside the gallery, and bronzes in the water garden. Despite the familiarity of the iconic subject matter for the Japanese artist, the bronzes do represent the first time she has worked in that medium on such a large scale and they alone are […]

To commemorate the 40 year anniversary of the death of Fabrizio Ceruso, Blu has painted a new mural in San Basilio, a district of Rome. Last night, the Honor Fraser Gallery hosted the highly anticipated return (covered) of Brian Donnelly (aka KAWS) to Los Angeles with a show entitled Man’s Best Friend. As implied by the title, Snoopy, along with a cast of familiar characters from Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts series were the focus of the Brooklyn-based artist’s imagery. The black and white utilized for a good portion of the work featuring the comic strip provided a stark contrast to the vivid colors seen in KAWS’ previous acrylic paintings, but it […]
