Back in Fall, David Choe (featured) announced the release of his latest book Snowman Monkey BBQ. This 266 page hard cover compiles numerous artwork including his gorgeous signature watercolors. Mr. Choe recently held a signing with the good folks at The Hundreds to reward his New York fans. While attending this year’s Basel Week Miami, we also walked by a new mural painted by The London Police in the Wynwood district. The crisp linework and iconic LADS characters instantly marked the piece as painted by the famous duo and is a welcome addition to this hotbed of street art activity in Miami. Another wall that caught our eyes while around Wynwood Walls during Basel Week Miami was a joint effort from Faith47 and Alexis Diaz, a continuation of the The Art of Collaboration program this year (also see Shep x Cleon Peterson). The mural was stunning in person, mixing South Africa-based Faith47’s female portraiture entwined with the darker illustrative style of the Puerto Rican Diaz. Releases: Ludo – “344” Print

We just received these images from Idem Studio in Paris showing Ludo (interviewed) adding final touches to his upcoming lithograph (edition of 99), set to be released Thursday, 11th of December with PrintThemAll studio. The title is 344, and is one of the butterflies he introduced at his recent London solo at Lazarides (covered). Releases: Ben Eine – “URBAN [E]” Cubes

The UK-based Ben Eine recently released a novel new three-dimensional art object that allows fans to add a unique representation of his typography to their collection. The limited edition cubes come signed and are presented in concrete, metal and wood, measuring 12 x 12 x 12 cm. They are produced by Fragile Ventures in a run of 100 and can be purchased here for £2,500.00. Discuss Ben Eine here.

Another fair we visited while in Miami was the tenth edition of Aqua. Featuring emerging and mid-career artists, the unique setting was a classic South Beach hotel that opened its rooms to collectors and exhibitors for the duration of Basel Week Miami. One of the pleasant surprises we stumbled upon was the piece seen above from Travis Louie (interviewed) that sees him using color for the first time in his signature series of works (exhibited by William Baczek). Releases: JR Print

French photographer and artist JR will be releasing a new lithograph print via Social-Animals.net on Tuesday, the 9th of December. The lithograph was produced at Idem Studio in Paris, and features one of the images taken during his recent Women Are Heroes project in Port of Le Havre, France (covered). Building on his successful collaboration with the NYC ballet earlier this year (covered), the print shows a ballerina sitting in a stack of iron containers. Basel Week Miami ’14: Barry McGee Signing @ NADA Beats Booth

While visiting the NADA fair (more on that later), we stopped to take a look at the signing session at a special booth from Barry McGee for fans that purchased his limited edition Beats Pill. While walking the Wynwood Walls area, we noticed the always attention-grabbing Anthony Lister (filmed) doing his thing in front of a crowd of people. Using his recognizable loose style, the Australian artist took advantage of the long wall to paint a lady on her side overlaid with some of the frames that he has used before. One of the favorite fairs we visited during Basel Week Miami was SCOPE and its high concentration of art from the Low Brow, New Contemporary, and Street Art movements.
