Recap: MyFinBec Pop Up Show (Berlin)

After their inaugural show at their winery in Sion, Switzerland, the MyFinBec project (introduced) toured around Europe showing the commissioned artworks at pop up shows in Cologne, London, Rome, and now has finally reached Berlin. Featuring eight original artworks, small scale murals painted on 672 wood wine cases in total, by the likes of Vhils, Herakut, C215, and Etam Cru, these unique events were a perfect mixture of art and wine tasting. Leonard McGurr, better known as Futura, recently opened a show at Schusev State Museum of Architecture in Moscow, exactly 30 years since his first visit to the Soviet Union. Back in 1984, the artist was photographed breakdancing on Moscow’s Red Square, which was a symbolic act during tense Cold War times. Previews: Branded Arts Group Exhibition @ TCL Chinese Theatre

This Saturday night (October 25th, 6:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m), Branded Arts will be putting on their biggest event yet at the world famous TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Featuring a group exhibition along with a DJ set by Talib Kweli, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services. Openings: Nick Walker – “All I Ever Wanted Was My Name On Fire” (New York Popup)

Last week, British artist Nick Walker (interviewed) unveiled a show in New York City. Entitled All I Ever Wanted Was My Name On Fire, this pop up located at 345 Broome Street was definitely a show that burns brightly. Openings: Ludo – ‘The Chaos Theory’ @ Lazarides Rathbone

Following our recent studio visit, AM attended the opening for the solo exhibition of Ludo (interviewed) entitled The Chaos Theory at Lazarides Rathbone. Live butterflies were fluttering during the event in London, much to the delight of onlookers. Inspired by the theory of “The Butterfly Effect,” the French artist decided to focus on a more personal interpretation of his cultural inspirations with a selection of neon green and monochrome canvases. Streets: Pejac (Spain)

Recently, street muralist Pejac (Art Focus) painted at a unique location just off the the shores of Canabria in northern Spain. Paying tribute to a famous Monet painting, Impression, Sunrise, the locally based artist recreated the image on the barnacled hull of an old ship. Viewers of the piece can enjoy different perspectives as the tide rises and falls against the corroded “canvas” that Pejac used. For the last several days now, Faile (featured) has been in Covington working on a large scale mural on the rear walls of the Republic Bank and Donna Salyer’s Fabulous Bridal on the corners of 6th Street and Madison Avenue. With this latest edition of our Streets: World Roundup article, we turn our eyes to Las Vegas for our featured mural from ROA. The Belgium-based artist withstood the desert heat for four days of hard work before completing this piece with the image of a horny toad, a local species that can squirt blood out of its eyes to deter predators.
