French photographer and street artist JR (interviewed) currently has a show at Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden, Germany. The retrospective features shots of his public works as well as the black and-white photographs used for the street installations from a wide range of projects ranging from FACE 2 FACE to THE WRINKLES OF THE CITY to WOMEN ARE HEROES. Last week, during Armory Week, Brooklyn-based artist Logan Hicks held a fresh exhibition at PMM Art Projects‘ pop-up location on NYC’s Lower East Side. Recently, we received final photos & video footage of an independent project that took place in Wynwood, Miami, during Art Basel Week last year. Initiated by the artists 2501 and Pastel, the Mirrorless project involves three crucial subjects – artist, home and people, that are actually the key elements of works through their interaction with the elements of the installation. Elusive British artist Banksy is back in the spotlight again with another worthy cause. After recently donating the original Heart Balloon for charity, and raising $650,000 for Haiti (covered), Bristol’s most popular man of mystery is at it again by contributing to #WithSyria project. Ian Strage aka Kid Zoom recently introduced his latest installation, Landed, for the 2014 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art. With its focus on architecture, this large, site-specific sculptural work follows his solo exhibitions last year at the National Gallery of Victoria (covered), and at the Canterbury Museum in Christchurch (covered). Faith47 recently took part in the #ANOTHERLIGHTUP project in Capetown, whose goal is to “fund the installation of a street light system into one of Cape Town’s more dangerous neighbourhoods and empower individuals with the potential to be active agents in change.” The Capetown-based artist contributed a new mural & installation entitled Harvest. Ahead of their upcoming exhibition opening on March 12th at the legendary patisserie and gallery, Maison Bertaux, in Soho, London, we met up with the all girl collective HYSTERIA in their Hastings studio. Made up of Collagism, Aida Wilde and Shuby, the UK based collective creates colourful artworks featuring eggs, legs, bananas, bunnies, cats, cupcakes, jewellery and bold iconography using mixed media collage and screenprinting techniques.
