Last year at the US-Mexico border fence, a large scaffolded installation (covered) from JR (interviewed) was put in place to bring attention to the issue of immigration. If you remember, the he later organized a massive picnic (covered) with his signature eye motif adorning the table, leading to an iconic photo from above. Dran opened a new pop-up exhibition in London over the weekend entitled Dessin du Jour. As the title suggests, the body of work is dominated by approximately 120 drawings which the artist has been executing on a daily basis in preparation for the show. The pieces individually distill down the small victories and defeats, dreams and doubts and joys and sorrows of everyday life. Openspace Gallery in Paris is paying tribute to Miss Van with a special retrospective. The show, curated by Samantha Longhi and Nicolas Chenus, presents more than 90 works from 2003 to today, and is running until June 14th. Spanning across 15 years, the exhibition highlights the French artist’s prolific body of works on paper, wood, and canvas. Recap: Augustine Kofie – “MKNZM” @ Swinton Gallery

Last month, Swinton Gallery in Madrid hosted a show from Augustine Kofie (featured) entitled MKNZM (Mechanism). For his first solo exhibition in Spain, the American artist presented a new body of work including collage on wood, painting on canvas, and etched found clipboards featuring his signature structured yet free-flowing aesthetic. This time around, Kofie centered his work on the oblong shape, using them like belts to link parts of a conceptual machine while working with textures and gradients of a particular palette. Releases: Okuda – “Mickey’s Skull”

Spanish artist Okuda recently released a beautiful series of skulls featuring his distinctive patterned artwork. Produced in a run of 33, each Mickey’s Skull will come signed and numbered, measure 30x30x30cm, and feature a unique and vibrant color scheme.
