Streets: Mar-1 / RAD Napa Project

Following up our previous coverage of the RAD Napa project (curated by Thinkspace and sponsored by The Napa Valley Wine Train), we now have photos from something Mars-1 (featured) painted recently. Creating a mural from his Infinite Tapestry series next to the railroad tracks, the Bay Area-based artist wove multiple globes of his bubbles together on the two part wall. The organic forms really pop against the stark black background, especially when viewed from the train. Photo & video credit: Birdman Photos. Discuss Mars-1 here.

Openings: D*Face – ‘Fornever’ @ Galerie Itinerrance (Paris)

After painting a large new mural Turn Coat (covered) in the 13th District of Paris, D*Face (interviewed) unveiled his first solo show in France at Galerie Itinerrance. Entitled FORNEVER, the exhibition presented canvasses, sculptures, installations, HPMs, prints, and more. The British artist also experimented with a new medium – ‘Memory Trays’ – assemblages of found objects to bring a narrative dimension to his portraits. Thus, his subjects are plunged into the past as if they were nothing but an accumulation of memories, a discrete stencil is hidden inside a […]

From June 20 to June 24, Pejac will be hosting a new exhibition in Paris entitled Waterline inside an old ‘péniche’ boat moored right next to Notre-Dame. Like his show last year in Venice (covered), held in a gondola workshop, the Spanish artist has tailored his new body of work to fit the unconventional venue with a series of around 30 drawings and studies on paper. Openings: Mark Drew – “What Goes On?” @ Spoke Art (New York)

Earlier this month, Spoke Art’s New York location hosted the opening of Mark Drew’s new solo show. Entitled What Goes On?, the new body of work continues the Tokyo-based artist’s signature juxtaposition of Peanuts comics and 90s rap lyrics. The mashup of hip hop bars with Snoopy & gang by the Australian artist takes two presumably familiar elements for the viewer and generates a new refreshing point of view and interpretation.
