Streets: olive47’s Owls in Atlanta & Los Angeles

Sometimes, you can get to feeling all disenchanted about street art – it’s often about the gallery show, the advertising and the PR – nothing feels fresh, nothing feels exciting. Then sometimes, something fresh and exciting pops into your inbox (or in this case your Instagram feed) that makes it all seem worthwhile again…. The most meaningful street art connects with it’s environment and engages with the setting in which it is placed. olive47’s Owl installations do just that, and they are certain to bring […]

Openings: Vandalog & M.A.N.Y – “Up Close & Personal”

AM recently attended a group exhibition (previewed) held by Vandalog and M.A.N.Y. in New York. The show Up Close & Personal was unique in the sense that it was not held outdoors or in a gallery, but in an actual apartment on the Upper West Side. The show was limited to viewing for less than a week, but less is more as art fans were escorted in small groups for an intimate viewing session of small works by Aiko, Chris Stain, Elbowtoe, Gaia, How & […]

David Flores, a LA-based artist who’s known for a unique style that embellishes another work of art rather than painting over it, once again put his stamp on the city walls of Los Angeles. With the monthly event known as the Downtown Art Walk taking place this past Thursday, Flores debuted a large-wall piece that featured one of the most iconic Hollywood screen personas – James Dean. Using the image (taken by photographer Phil Stern) featured in the film Forever Young, Flores took an image […]
