Interview: Zilda

French artist Zilda’s classically influenced street work are inspired by old books and works of the master painters and sculptors of the past. With such a wealth of material to refer to, it was somewhat surprising to find out that his work is all originally hand-painted. We talked about his history, technique, and future,  among other things in our interview – all after the jump.

Openings: Os Gemeos – “Pra quem mora lá, o céu é lá” @ Museu Colecção Berardo

Os Gemeos unleashed their latest show across the Atlantic in Portugal named “Pra quem mora lá, o céu é lá” (To who lives there, heaven is there). From the looks of this exhibition hosted in Lisbon’s Museu Colecção Berardo, it appears to be as heavenly as the title indicates. Fans of the twins from São Paulo were greeted with another indoor haven for street art and music lovers. From floor to ceiling, Os Gemeos worked to paint and install interactive sculptures, installations and paintings that hooked […]

Take a look at a special print made available for this occasion as well as other planned screening dates after the jump…

Streets: Banksy in NY

After a whirlwind tour (summarized here) of North America to promote his film, Banksy has finally reached the one city that has been conspicuously missing from his itinerary – New York, the so-called birthplace of modern graffiti. Strange that the visit does not coincide with the actual movie premiere in NY several weeks ago, but with two stencils that have been discovered so far, there are bound to be more so stay tuned. The one above is a clever variant of the piece Mr. B […]
