Anthony Lister x Paris Hilton

We are sure you all remember this video from a while back where Paris Hilton endorses Anthony Lister’s (interviewed) work. The Australian artist, who opened a show last week, apparently had time to take that encounter and paint Hilton as a superhero. Turns out she loves it… Perhaps it will end up on her walls somehow? Kaws Invite & Video – CBS Sunday Morning

Artist and designer Kaws was featured on CBS News Sunday Morning. The segment features an in-depth interview, gives an inside look at Pharrell Williams’ amazing collection, and provides an overview of Kaws’ career, past and present. In other Kaws news, fans lucky enough to receive an invitation to Kaws’ upcoming, “The Long Way Home” show (teased) at Honor Fraser received a color variant of the Kaws head that accompanied the Bounty Hunter Kaws Kun toy. Teaser – Black Rat Press Annual Print Show – London

If last year’s event is anything to go by, the Black Rat Press Annual Print Show in London, opening on Saturday, 21st February will be worth checking out. The chance to see printmaking demonstrations, ask the printers questions, as well as check out new editions, trial proofs, hand colored rarities, and other treats from the Black Rat Press’ stable of artists could well make this one rather special. Shepard Fairey arrested in Boston

It seems that the Boston Police Department were not at all impressed by Shepard Fairey’s status as Presidential portraiture or his 20-year retrospective at Beantown’s Institute of Contemporary Art. According to The Boston Globe and Huffington Post, Fairey was arrested last night around 9:15pm as he tried to enter the ICA, where he was scheduled to DJ the museum’s sold-out Experiment Night dance-party (with tickets going upwards $500 on Craigslist). Openings: Chris Stain @ Carmichael Gallery

AM checked out Baltimore street artist Chris Stain’s solo exhibition, “Up On The Roof Countin’ Pigeons,” (previewed) at the Carmichael Gallery. Stain absolutely knocked one out of the park with his transformation of the front gallery space into a New York City rooftop scene, which featured an amazing gargantuan-sized mural on one of the gallery’s walls. Openings: Craola & Anthony Lister @ Fifty24SF

Greg “Craola” Simkins’ (interviewed) and Anthony Lister’s (interviewed) shows opened last night at Fifty24SF with both artists in attendance to greet adoring fans.  Simkins expanded on “still life” themes from his last two shows while Lister focused on different versions of a familiar image as well as painting photos of his friends. Preview: Ilia of Btoy @ Carmichael Gallery

Ilia, half of the Barcelona street-art duo Btoy, will be participating in the group show “Lifeline” which opens concurrently with Chris Stain’s solo show (previewed) at the Carmichael Gallery on Thursday, February 5th @ 7pm. The gallery was kind enough to send us a few preview images that highlight Ilia’s signature style featuring delicate lines and a muted palette.
