Upcoming: Mark Jenkins – “Knock Knock” @ Ruttkowski;68

On October 21st, Mark Jenkins (interviewed) will be opening a show at Ruttkowski;68 in Cologne, Germany, his third solo with the gallery. Knock Knock will feature more of the American artist’s signature witty sculptures utilizing the human form, with the latest body of work a play on the classic joke. With these freestanding pieces, mimicking his installations on the streets, as well as the more indoor based sculptural canvas flats, Jenkins’ hopes to “metaphorically knock on the viewer’s mind, calling norms into question again.” Discuss Mark Jenkins here.

Though Perils of Our Youth, a solo show from Evoca1, will be opening at the StolenSpace in London on November 3rd. Known for his detailed and expressive murals featuring portraits of people and often their animal companions, the Miami-based street artist is working on something a little more personal for this gallery show. Previews: KAWS – “Where The End Starts” @ Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

As we previously mentioned, on October 20th, a major survey of the work of KAWS will be opening at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, following up on his 2011 show at the same institution (covered). Organized by The Modern’s curator Andrea Karnes in close collaboration with the artist, the exhibition and the accompanying catalogue explore the development of the artist’s career from the 1990s to the present. Releases: Eine – “The Missing Letter” Sculptural Edition

Fluorescent Smogg recently released a series of sculptural editions from Eine, their second collaboration with the British street artist on three-dimensional representations of his famous letters. The hand cast concrete sculpture is produced in a run of 10 in four unique color ways (light blue, saffron yellow, light green, light pink) plus a handfinished special edition, £575.00 & £875.00 respectively. Entitled The Missing Letter to reference the fact that Eine’s alphabet canvases sometimes omit the letter ‘W’, these can be added to your collection by heading here. Discuss Eine here.

On October 15th, the Urban Dawn II exhibition organized by curator19.90 will get underway in Beirut, Lebanon. Recap: FestiWall 2016 (Italy)

The FestiWall public arts and music event recently wrapped up their 2016 edition with a small but effective roster of artists creating murals on the island of Sicily. An example of this was a lush piece entitled The Gardener (seen above) from Australian street artist Fintan Magee, a multi-story masterpiece painted over several days. Streets: Sage Vaughn (Los Angeles)

Recently in Los Angeles, on the border of Tarzana and Reseda, Sage Vaughn painted a mural on a side of a new structure on Ventura Blvd. The wall features a large-scale rendition of the locally-based artist’s instantly recognizable Wildflowers imagery, sprinkled with some mushrooms and other wildlife.
