Streets: Crystal Wagner // UNIQA Art Lodz (Poland)

Following up on an amazing collaboration between Etam Cru and Robert Proch in Poland, Crystal Wagner was the next artist invited in by UNIQA Art Lodz to beautify the city. The new installation (created from wire armature, rip-stop water proof and UV protective nylon, cable ties) for the urban art program curated by Michał Bieżyński (of Lodz Murals) is entitled Hyperbolic and looks like it’s devouring the building. Upcoming: Swoon – “Thalassa” @ Detroit Institute of Arts

Starting on September 24th, the Detroit Institute of Arts will unveil an installation from Swoon (interviewed) entitled Thalassa. The 20-foot tall, 400-pound sculptural piece named after the Greek goddess of the sea – originally displayed in New Orleans (covered) – will be adapted for DIA’s Great Hall. The massive work from the American artist will be suspended from the ceiling and will coincide with a mural project in Detroit’s Jefferson-Chalmers district. Recap: Kidult – “Visual Rape” Pop Up Show (Tokyo)

Provocative graffiti artist Kidult recently held a 48 hour pop show in Tokyo entitled Visual Rape. The French artist who made his name tagging his moniker on the storefront of famous fashion brands, particularly those who use graffiti commercially, made sure to include a reference to his notoriety with sculptures (two editions) of Chanel’s tagged facade in the exhibition. Videos / Streets: D*Face – “Lovestruck” (Los Angeles)

Last month in Culver City, D*Face (interviewed) painted a new mural near the always busy 10 Freeway (seen best as you drive by the 10 freeway headed east passing Robertson Blvd) entitled Lovestruck. The British artist was in town to support the 10 year Anniversary Show at Corey Helford Gallery but took the time to leave something for his fans in the greater LA area. Releases: Nuart Festival 2016 Box Set

In collaboration with Nuart Gallery (former Reed Projects), Nuart Festival has released an exclusive series of signed limited edition prints to support this year’s event. The box set consists of a total of 14 prints measuring 12” (30 x 30cm), one from each of this year’s participating artists. Each box set consists of 6 gicleé and 8 hand-pulled screen prints, giving a chance for collectors to own part of Nuart history while helping to fund the festival.
