Ron English – Barack Obama x Hulk & Fat Tony Sculpt

Playing to his strengths of appropriating pop culture for his own unique creations, Ron English (featured) has recently revealed two projects he has been working on. Releases: Kaws – “Partners” Figure

KAWS fans out there will be pleased to know that the next figure from the street turned contemporary artist has dropped. Partners features a sculpt of the artist standing next to his companion figure. If this looks familiar, it’s because you probably have seen the statue at Disneyland featuring Walt Disney standing next to Mickey Mouse although not cringing like in this version. Releases: David Flores – “Deathead”

Not only has David Flores been busy in the streets and in the gallery, he has also been working on a new figure entitled Deathead. The 10″ tall reinterpretation of Mickey melded with Totenkopf symbol utilized by the Prussian army during the time of Frederick the Great will be produced by Bic Plastics and reportedly come in five colorways. Releases: Joe Ledbetter – 12″ Mutant Bunny (Hand Painted) Part II

Several months ago, we brought your attention to the first set of hand-painted mutant bunny sculptures from Joe Ledbetter. The LA-based painter and art toy mogul has not released the next five of what will be an eventual total of 40. The 12″ figures (sculpted by Pretty in Plastic) are priced at $1500 and should be the crown jewel in the collection of any fan of Ledbetter’s three-dimensional work. Baby Tattooville ’11: Goodie Bag

We still have a couple more things to cover before we close the book on this year’s Baby Tattooville. One of these is the much anticipated “goodie bag” that attendees to the annual art retreat receive at the end of the weekend. Besides the sweet Diesel Fuel print set and reproduction of the Art Jam painting, a collection of other limited editions, drawings, and art paraphernalia was given away just before the trip home. Since the Dissected Milo set was released back in February, KAWS hasn’t released anything on the vinyl toy front, undoubtedly due to focusing on his fine art and recent solo Hold the Line. Openings: Ron English – “English 101” @ Post No Bills

On Thursday night, AM attended Ron English’s (featured) latest exhibit entitled English 101 at the Post No Bills Gallery. The exhibit featured limited edition prints, hand finished multiples, toys and other artwork that displayed the artist’s unique design and sense of humor. The place was filled from the start and crowds of people were lined up to meet the artist who also took the time to sign his artwork. Baby Tattooville ’11: Secret Store

One of the highlights of the art retreat known as Baby Tattooville is the special pop-up store that is set up each year. Filled with unique prints, toys, art products, and original art from participating artists, the “Secret Store” is a good opportunity for fans to stock up on their favorite artist swag. Showing: FriendsWithYou – “In The Beginning” @ colette (Paris)

Still showing through the rest of the week until the 24th is the FriendsWithYou exhibition in Paris. In The Beginning at colette features the Miami design collective’s bronze sculptures, series of prints including two exclusive to the store, an animation video piece, wall murals, as well as a plethora of art products. FWY also designed the storefront and the “water bar” space of the gallery, all based on the theme of expressing the inner-child inside all of us. More photos after the jump…
