After speaking out against a bootleg figure stylized after his massive Passing Through Companion sculpture, KAWS has announced the officially release of his own vinyl sculpt. If you remember the impressive piece was first seen in Hong Kong, followed up by a showing at The Aldrich, then at in NY at The Standard Hotel, followed by an appearance at his museum show in Atlanta, and finally at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. For the completists out there (see original colorway) or those that just want new figure from KAWS that is a remix of one of his classic characters, you may be interested to hear that that the Mono and Black versions of his Resting Place Companion is set to be released. Many of them will be released through a lottery system for those lining up at the OriginalFake store in Tokyo on February 23rd and hopefully some will hit Kawsone shortly thereafter. For those who missed out on getting the newest KAWS figure in person as part of your Christmas shopping (which is most of you as this release was in Japan), tomorrow will be your second chance. His version of Woodstock with his now characteristic double x’s will be available on Kawsone at Noon Eastern for those quick enough to snap it up. Discuss KAWS here.
Tomorrow at noon (Octeber 22nd Eastern time), KAWS will be releasing something for his fans out there to celebrate Halloween. Reprising his collaboration with the popular Snoopy (see 2011), the ceramic jar will be available for approximately $132 on Kawsone. Also, for all those KAWS heads out there, remember the street turned contemporary artist will be participating in another holiday next month in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with a 40-foot-long balloon of his companion character.
