Streets: Banksy (Bristol)

Delivering an early Christmas present to the people of Bristol, Banksy has painted a new work depicting a sneezing pensioner in the neighborhood of Totterdown. The area acquired its name because the steepness of the hills make it appear that the terrace houses are tottering, or tumbling, down the precipitous slope towards the River Avon below. The piece itself is located on Vale Street which at 22° is the steepest residential street in the UK and the native West Country artist has played with these angles […]

Streets: Banksy (Nottingham)

Making good use of a prop, Banksy has struck again with some covert art-making in the city of Nottingham in the UK. Stenciled in behind a dilapidated bike with a missing wheel, a girl can be seen using the said tire sans spokes as a hula hoop. Painted on the wall of a salon on Rothesay Avenue, the whimsical piece has already attracted local vandals to spray over it despite being protected by perspex and being cleaned multiple times. Streets: Banksy (Birmingham, UK)

Just in time for the holiday season, Banksy recently unveiled a new piece highlighting the plight of the homeless. Created in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, UK, the wall was introduced in a video by the elusive street artist on his Instagram featuring what looks to be a homeless man laying down on a bench pulled by stenciled reindeer (like Santa Claus). Take a look at more photos and the video below… Photo credit: @mrlkdds, jackmobley, SNAPPERSK, Discuss Banksy here. View this post on Instagram . God […]

Upcoming: Phlegm – “Mausoleum of the Giants” (Sheffield)

So, it looks like Phlegm has been hard at work at something epic that will open to the public soon in the UK. Mausoleum of the Giants in the street artist’s home base of Sheffield will feature large-scale sculptural installations in an abandoned factory, populating the halls and rooms with creatures and elements of his distinct imagery. The solo show will be open starting March 15 and run until April 6 (head over here for the location and hours to be revealed at a later date). Photo […]

Streets: Banksy – “Season’s Greeting” (Port Talbot, Wales)

Making a statement during the holiday season in his own unique way, Banksy has created a new piece in  South Wales. Featuring a boy enjoying what appear to be snowflakes while trying to catch some on his tongue, the mural turns dark when you look around the corner and realize it’s actually ash from a burning dumpster, not snow. Surely a commentary on Port Talbot (one of the most polluted areas in the UK) where the piece is located, a video (seen below) from the […]

Streets: Banksy (Dover)

While the eyes of the world were focused on the results of the French presidential election, Banksy revealed his latest street piece in coastal town of Dover in the UK, just across Calais, France, where he was active 2 years ago (covered). Placed just across the city’s ferry terminal, the area of arrival for those coming from mainland Europe, the large mural shows a man chiseling off one of the stars from the EU flag. The blue flag with its 12 yellow stars has been inspiration for many […]

Openings: Banksy – “Dismaland” (Evening View)

If you’ve been following our visit to the UK to experience Banksy’s theme park Dismaland in the UK, you probably think you’ve see it all. But what’s a true to form artistic replica of Disney’s magic kingdom if it doesn’t work at night? Besides isn’t that when the magic is suppose to truly happen? Well, we stuck around to catch the “Bemusement Park” transform during the August 21st evening VIP session. Disappoint it did not as Banksy and company hit their mark to build a corporate playland, complete with a full drumming […]
