Videos / Teaser: Adam Neate – “Revolving Door” @ Art Stage Singapore

Just like last year, visionary artist Adam Neate (interviewed) will be presenting his work at Art Stage Singapore. Showing with Elms Lester when the fair opens January 12th, the UK-based painter has created new piece, Revolving Door, for his fans in Asia that full demonstrates his “Dimensional Painting” technique. Remember when renowned photographer JR (featured) recently returned to his home country of France for a solo exhibition entitled Encrages at Galerie Perrotin. The fresh show took over the spacious two story Paris gallery as well as utilized the ample outdoor area with his signature large-scale wheatpasting. Haroshi x HUF x DLX Collaboration Event

Coming up on January 7th in Los Angeles (545 S. Clarence St.), sculptor Haroshi (last seen at his NY solo) will be unveiling his limited edition collaboration with HUF and Bay Area skateboard distributor DLX. The event will also include an exhibition of six original works by the Japanese artist who is known for crafting work from compressed skateboards. Video: Cai Guo-Qiang – “Saraab” Opening Fireworks @ Arab Museum of Modern Art

To celebrate the opening of his Saraab (mirage) exhibition a couple weeks ago at the Arab Museum of Modern Art (Mathaf) in Qatar, Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang put on his largest explosive performance of the last three years. Using perfectly timed microchip-controlled explosions, the renowned contemporary artist transformed the desert landscape and sky into his canvas with some beautifully orchestrated smoke and fire designs. Back in January, we shared with you a very special project in Toronto by urban calligrapher José Parlá at the Concord City Place. Now comes this video from inkblot media with some footage of the impressive large scale works in situ as well as in progress. Even more interesting is an interview with Parlá as he explains where he came from, his process, the the meanings behind the pieces for this commission, and just his passion for storytelling. Liliwenn is a photorealistic street muralist from France (and founder of the Crimes of Mind project) whom we have featured briefly here on AM in the past. She recently collaborated with ASM (A State of Mind) on their entertaining new music video for Splice the Mainbrace, where she is featured as a street artist on the run from the law. Starting this Friday (Dec.9), New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art will be pulling one of their permanent collection’s most beloved works out of storage and putting it back on display. Calder’s Circus was created by Alexander Calder while he was living in Paris in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
