Last week, ROA was caught on the move again, this time popping up in Bromölla, Sweden where he painted a mural for Ifö Center as part of their Artist-in-Residence program. The project originated in the unoccupied floors of a factory with Belgium-based street painter being the first international artist to leave his mark on the external walls. Dutch artist and illustrator Femke Hiemstra (featured) returns to Roq La Rue Gallery for a shared solo alongside Casey Weldon (featured) on Thursday, August 7th. Titled Warten am Waldrand or Waiting at The Edge of the Forest, this is her 7th show with the Seattle gallery. Leading things off on this edition of our Streets: World Roundup is this new mural from Vhils (via Hookedblog) for the Phytology Project. The wall is situated on a side street just off Bethnal Green Road (the station end) in the Bethnal Green Nature Reserve and is part of a series of year-long artist commissions taking place in the reserve. Working with an expanded palette and new provocative imagery, Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) gave her fans what they wanted and more with her new solo show. Entitled Hirari Hirari, the sold out exhibition held at Merry Karnowsky Gallery, took the locally-based painter’s portraiture up a notch with her flawless feminine forms. Phlegm was recently invited to Norway by Urban Samtidskunst and Galleri Lauritzen to paint a large mural in the old industrial town of Moss. After being forced to take some time off due to neck problems, the Sheffield-based artist created a groundbreaking piece on many levels.
