Earlier this month, the UK-based INSA returned to Hong Kong for a set of murals at The Vaford Gates in Chai Wan. If you remember, the street artist know for his heel motifs had a show in the city-state in 2011 at the Above Second Gallery. The project at this former old factory building location plans to feature a rotating cast of local and international artist so we’ll be sure to see more action soon… Discuss INSA here.

With this year’s Video Music Awards from MTV only several days away, installation has already started for the event. Starting on September 6th, the Stranger Factory in Albuquerque will be hosting a two person show entitled Tiny Theatre of The Absurd from Travis Louie’s (interviewed) and Jean Labourdette a.k.a. Turf One. For his part, Louie will be contributing some small pieces and some mixed media works on paper featuring his black & white portraits, rendered like vintage photos, of imaginary creatures and human oddities. Last Thursday marked the official launch of Hennessy’s latest VS Cognac bottle created by famed Brazilian artists Os Gemeos (featured). This marks their third successful artist collaboration following up previous designs by esteemed artists Futura (covered) & KAWS (covered). On September 5th, Andrew Schoultz will be opening his third solo show with Morgan Lehman Gallery in New York entitled simply New Work. Seen in this new series of paintings are motifs and imagery that we have come to expect from the San Francisco-based artist including ships, horses, and frenetic patterns enhanced with his mixed media use of US currency. Recently, The London Police paid a visit to Covington, Kentucky for a public works project arranged by the BLDG gallery. The duo painted their iconic LADS characters alongside buildings and inside local business, leaving a trail of art for fans to follow. After opening his show at Honor Fraser (covered) in Los Angeles as well as painting on the cars of his lucky fans in the area, Kenny Scharf (interviewed) returned to New York where he continued improving vehicles with his signature imagery.
