Entitled Electric Ritual, the currently showing selection of new paintings from Todd James is his third solo (see 2010, 2015) with Alice Gallery in Brussel. The vibrant new pieces from the New York-based artist continue his explorations of interiors while including some signature elements like his curvaceous nudes, war planes, and vivid color palette. Amsterdam’s The Garage will be opening the European debut show from Mike Lee on the 29th of September. Continuing to work with the POW! WOW! family, OG Slick recently finished a wall for this year’s event in Worcester, Massachusetts. The mural features a motif the Los Angeles-based artist has worked on in the past featuring his familiar Micky Mouse hands spray painting a smiley face. We’ll have more from POW! WOW! On September 28th, Quint Gallery in La Jolla will be opening a show from Kelsey Brookes entitled Fibonacci, Waveforms, and Capsid Symmetries. Continuing to draw from his scientific background as former biochemist for inspiration, the locally-used artist has found a novel way to present his geometric and patterned imagery by applying them to sculptural surfaces. Last week, Galerie Perrotin opened a solo show from Madsaki entitled French Fries with Mayo, the first time the Japanese artist has exhibited in Paris. Tomorrow night (September 15th) in Los Angeles, Arcadia Contemporary will be presenting some recent paintings from John Brosio. The new body of work includes many of the locally-based artist’s suburban landscapes, tinged with surreal features in the background like dinosaurs, natural disasters, and the monsters – with unsuspecting people in the foreground going about their daily life.
